The few metal bands that I like are Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Danzig and Dissection. There might be others but I can't recall them right now.

The fist 4 albums are freakin' awesome.
But it's the kind of music you have to listen to a couple of times before you really appreciate it. And you have to be in the right mood.
I don't play them often but I love them.

I'm not sure if you consider them metal or not but I really enjoy Deftones.

Correct about their first few albums. Mainly i am targeting their later songs. At least when I when i went to one of their concerts two years ago they played their early stuff. Mostly they played stuff from when they were called the misfits. They even had Doyle back with them.

Kinda difficult to separate "metal" from hard rock & nu metal. Like Baron Von Marlon said, I'm more into hard rock & classic rock than "metal".

Favs would be: AC/DC, Def Leppard & Mastedon (not Mastodon)

Other "metal" groups with some good music: Ozzy, Sabbath, Priest, Scorpions, Van Hallen, Motley Crue, Kingsx, Metallica, If you want to call them metal: Deep Purple/Rainbow, Rage Against the Machine, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult
