LOL

...but yeah something along the lines of The Thing prequel could be cool.

Surprised they haven't remade Escape From New York although Lockout did have a similar storyline.

So I'm probably going to get stoned for this (more so than They Live ::stick out tongue::) but i honestly have MAJOR issues with the first Hellraiser movie.

I love the Cenobites. I love The Box. I love our Final Girl... BUT I'm not a huge fan of the crazy-hammer-lady plot - I haven't read any of the literature so it could be that it's faithful, but it just hasn't aged well.

Honestly, I'd rather cut out all of the hammer-lady-with-bad-hair parts and keep in everything else. I love the way the Cenobites look; no need to remake them, but I'd love that movie to be focused away from her.

My hubby would love to remake Matango - He absolutely adores the original but he'd love to see a more recent spin on it.

Many complain about horror not having normal-looking people, but now the Hellraiser woman has bad hair. Horror can't win for losing. Lol

I completely agree with what has been said. Instead of Hollywood remaking the same couple of movies over and over it's time other ones were re-done.

It is great to hear Stephen King's IT is being re-done that has always been once of my favourite books and movies.

But an interesting one that could be remade is definately GREMLINS it is one that many over look when thinking Horror but that would be awesome to have re-made :D

KickStarter Anyone? haha

Interesting observations on the film. I find one of the problems with the horror genre is it tries to capture the "look" of a generation or even say subculture by presenting it in a way that is perceived by the director which is not always accurate. Look at all the Goth or Punk types in horror films.

Hammer hair was an attempt at the post new wave look as filtered through to the middle upper class. Failure at the time, a failure now. Instead, directors should go for a look less dated. Think ahead. This is comming from someone who is a fan of Pinhead. Not sure if the hammer bit follows the book but it could be presented in a better way while maintaining the hammer theme. Who wants to waste the blood after all. Blunt force trauma works until draining the victim.

One last thing, the actress wasn't believable or even likeable. I found her screen presence annoying at best.

It perfectly fits her personality, sense of style, and social awareness. She is a fast-aging woman clinging to whatever makes her feel young, sexy, and relevant. Forward-thinking in such a case would have dissociated her from the audience at the time of the film's release and would have put her dangerously close to the donning of an artificial skin suit and bubble helmet.

Very good observations. I still find the actress unwatchable. Love the film. Always will. Something about her just annoys me.

Anyone know if there has been any updates to the idea of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp doing a remake of Dr. Phibes? I love the originals and think it unnecessary to remake the property. Two words dark+shadows.

The Original is excellent..

Drug addiction, alcoholism, sadism, beastiality, mutilation, murder, vampirism, necrophilia, cannibalism, not to mention a gamut of sexual goodies. Shall I go on?
