couple of things ..

for a lot of the toys the box serves as a display as well ... sometimes they look better in the box.

also - i have an 8 year old kid ... once open - these are fair game with him and he WILL lose the parts.

I'm hoping to pass everything down to him one day . if i keep everything perfect - he may have his first car if he decides to sell these things.

I also like to think he'd keep them to remember me by - but who knows)

at any rate the bottom line is : even if i open them - I'm 47 - what am i gonna do ? pose them ? at that point - yes - they will feel like 'dolls'

Oh, I completely understand your viewpoint on the matter...but being that I mostly collect Transformers, I don't think they're fun at all encased in plastic. Their is a lot of engineering and development that went on to give them interesting transformations, so I appreciate that aspect of them.

And yeah...I'm 29 years old and I display them and that does entail posing.
And no...I don't give a shit if that's "embarrassing" at all. Purchasing them is purchasing them....if someone if gonna think you are dumb or childish for buying them, whether or not you have opened them will not factor into their opinion of you.

Dork is a dork, and I'm secure in being one. ;) hahaha.

Everyone is a geek about something, there is just what "the public" considers "geeky". My dad is a geek about college football, but most people don't consider that "geeky"....it's all perspective.
