I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think that Day and Diary are pretty week horror movies in general.

I think that he defined the genre with Night and Dawn as well as truly challenging racial tensions... But I think that, after those two films, he reaches for causes and I think instead panders.

I haven't seen his other stuff, though (not even Creepshow!). I'll have to check those out. :)

I was dissapointed by Diary, tho the news stuff at the beginning was spectacular. Would loved to have seen more of that

I agree with you. The voiceover kept saying, "THE MEDIA LIED TO US..." but... we didn't see very much of the media; it's like Film 101: SHOW, don't TELL.

Same here, and as for Dawn needing more editing I couldn't disagree more. I have the European cut and it really takes away from the film, but then again it all comes down to what people like and what they don't. Watch Creepshow for sure, and Martin would probably be a movie you could really enjoy.

The boyfriend loves Creepshow, so I think that I'm definitely sold (he's a huge Romero fan too, but on the same lines as me... Except Dawn is his absolute favorite). Haven't seen Martin, though I've heard of it. I'll add both of those to my Netflix queue.

Every Dead movie Romero has ever made, excluding Land, was exceptionally good.
the first 3 were fucking flawless, and Diary had some great atmosphere..
I'd have to say Day was my fav as well, Night and Dawn are tied for a close 2nd.

Diary of the Dead was one of the best recent horror movies made in my opinion. It was done on an extremely low budget, which affected the visual effects, but otherwise a good movie.
