Then you shouldn't have mentioned it earlier.

Calm down there buddy, sit, breathe, relax.

I mentioned Tool in the first place because they aren't exactly metal. Then I just mentioned that the only song I do like is Sober. So I had a reason to bring it up.

Tons of radio and MTV airtime. Non-metal riffs.

Not metal obviously.

The only classification close to metal would be Nu-Metal, but that means that they're shitty, and they're not shitty, they're just not metal. More like...I wanna say progressive rock, but that's not it. Definately not metal.

So if Slayer got tons of airplay and were on MTV they would cease to a metal band???

Non-metal riffs??? I didn't know there was a set of metal riffs that bands were not allowed to detour from. I think they're metal.

To put Tool and nu-metal together is......blasphemy.

If you listen to the plethera of metal out there...Tool does not stand in it. Not at all. Maybe several years ago when Metal wasn't that big, but now they're nothing.

And if Slayer got ton of airtime on MTV, they'd be sell-outs. And generally, everything played on MTV isn't metal.

You didn't answer my question.

Tool is metal. Maybe not your taste in metal, but as Moonsorrow knows, there are many sub-genres of metal.

When operating under this erroneous assumption you are effectively implying that the "plethora of metal out there" is indicative of the actual nature of metal. There could be a whole lot of 'my ass' out there but my ass will never be metal. And just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "out there"? In people's Cd players? Playing at the sweaty shit house down town? On MTV? Just because something doesn't sound like the conglomeration of garbage trying to be 'metal' out there doesn't mean that it fails to achieve 'metal' status itself. I will not disagree with your assertion that Tool is nothing to even mention in passing, but please spare me the useless debate about the definiton of metal. All you're doing is grappling with syntax, and to no consequence.
