i can remember every movie that ever scared me :

- the norliss tapes - TV movie back in the day - scared the shit out of me

- Tales from the Crypt - 1972. I saw it in the theatre when i was 11 - and not yet a horror fan. I actually went to the lobby to wait out the ending i was so scared.

- an all night horrorama at the drive in had me scared at first but by the time Dawn of the Dead rolled around i wasnt frightened at all.

(saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, The Prowler, High Risk - [non horror] Hills Have Eyes)
it ran from dusk till dawn ... THIS turned me into a horror fan.
And since i recently aquired The Prowler .. i now have every film i saw that night on DVD.

- The Changeling - falling chandelier made me jump out of my seat

- Alien - made me jump in the theatre ..

- The Grudge (american) - made me jump twice .. props to that.

jumping is more being startled - not scared - so i'd have to say by my personal experience - Tales From the Crypt is MY personal scariest horror film of all time.

there is no such thing as THE scariest horror film of all time because each of us are scared by different things - or are not scared at all by movies anymore..

I forgot about that part... :(

During the grudge I was too busy preparing myself for scares to enjoy the movie. I rented it later and realized there wasn't much movie behind them though, in my opinion anyway. I haven't seen the original though, how much better is it?

The grudge scared me real abd, but i got over it when i watched the rental version.

I dont really have top 5 scariest movie, with me it isnt a case of films scaring you, but films making you feel sick y'know. Like grindhouse, texas chainsaw or house of 1000corpses style.

I've seen it but I'm wondering if that's the same one with the short story of the woman who runs over the hitchhiker who keeps showing up asking for a ride.
