This is a carry over from another thread...

Discussing culture, ethnicity, lineage, heritage, etcetera...

I had stated that we are all mixed...And then I was thinking about exactly what I am...

So, I came up with:

German
Irish
Native American
Swedish

And more than likely a whole lotta stuff that I don't even know about.....So, how about you guys?

What kinda mutt are you?

Half kiwi, half welsh. Not to sure if theres anything else. Dont know my family background.

Another American "claiming" Irish Blood. More than 50%...Family name is Coffey. Dads side is mostly South American, some MORE Irish (oh my), and there's supposed to be some French in there too.

it's not you guys, I'm on about. It was a generalisation of what I've read and seen, and get told about US citizens. Thats why I said no digs at anyone here. I just hate the ones who go on about how 'Irish' they feel they are, when they'd have to go back about 26 generations into the stone age to find distant Irish connections, which frankly, means bugger all as the blood ties have gone imo.

;)

Right on, Shanks. I understand what you're saying now. My paternal gran has an Irish great-grandfather on her English side (English and Irish mix), but mostly, she's Cherokee. My mom's side is where the Irish is. As a matter of fact, my mom's bloodline is the reason I don't look like my dad's side of the family. My dad is the only one of his sibs that doesn't have DARK brown eyes.

I just wanted to point out that it really get's on the Irishs' nerves. They're like, "Here to check out your geneology?" I'm like, "I don't give a fuck." It's cool to see the different cultures that have helped make American (if we can have one yet), but all in all, we're just, Americans. That's what I tell folks in Europe. I'm American. Too young a nation to discount our ancestry, but too old to define ourselves as such.
