The Uninvited (2009)

This is the remake of my favorite Asian horror film, A Tale of Two Sisters, so I think I set my sights high for this movie. I've gotta say that I'm a little disappointed. The movie is about this girl that comes home from a mental hospital, her dad gets a new psycho girlfriend after his wife dies, and there's a ghost in the house. The supernatural parts of this were shoehorned in just to make it more appealing to American audiences, and the scares were mostly generic PG-13 jump scares with bad CGI ghost children. In the original movie, there was a ghost in the house, but it wasn't the main focus of the movie. Back to the crazy girlfriend, her story is what makes this movie interesting. There are a few good twists in the movie regarding her, and I wish that the entire movie was about the girlfriend rather than some random, unexplained ghost in the house because the movie's most intense scenes involved her. There's also this twist at the end that's really good if you haven't seen A Tale of Two Sisters. The Uninvited has a decently interesting story and a good ending, but it's mostly boring and not very scary.

5/10

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight (1995)
Last time I watched this was 15 years ago or so.

The Burnt House 2009

The Burnt House is the story of Megan and Joe, a couple who have recently experienced the death their infant son to SIDS. The tragedy has spawned a rift between the two and driven Megan into a secret affair. After Joe loses his mother to a heart attack the couple moves out to Joe's rural childhood home seeking a fresh start. Once in the isolated home strange things begin to occur and long kept secrets try and dig their way out of the past. What happened on November 3rd? Will it happen again?

Awful. The only thing done well was the gore, and you mostly get to see it as pictures flashed for half a second. Which was used a lot, which is bad. Horrible acting. Boring and annoying script. Could not finished it. Skimmed to the end and skimmed the end too. Cliche scenes, felt like a lot of scenes were apropriated from other movies and changed(forced) into this film.
2/10 because at least the gore was well done.

Way too many horror movies are made like that these years.

A waste.... of everything.

Today i watched my favorite severed head movie. I laugh so much because actors act believingly when terrible things happen. This has also the most funny tongue scene.

I very much agree. Probably why most of my favorites are from about 1980 to 1990.
