I do not agree with that because there were many horror films that other critics denounced that Ebert defended including Halloween (1978) and The Last House on the Left. Yes, I know that's is true, having read (and seen) hundreds of his reviews (we received the daily Sun-times at home, and watched 'At the Movies' & 'Siskel & Ebert as a family). He was a complex mix, like all real people. I think it was just trying to conveyed that Horror movies were obviously not his favorite types of films. He certainly knew how to appreciate films whether he liked them or not.
