Planes, Trains, and Automobiles 7/10

A great buddy comedy starring two of the great's Steve Martin and John Candy R.I.P

Roderick Usher 08-25-2007 08:13 PM

Unforgiven

Bill Munny is one of the best film villains ever...and he's the damned lead! Pitch-perfect filmmaking and the title says it all. Every character in this movie is headed straight to hell.

10/10

Suspect

Wanted to watch something today, have netflix so we went to the "watch it now" section, and it was listed as 5 stars.

Cher
Liam Neeson
Dennis Quaid

pretty damn good. The library scene is one of the most tense, nailbiting scenes i have witnessed in a long time, and it didnt involve anything more than someone looking for a book for someone else, and a third party watching them. Really good and unexpectd. nice twist ending too.

It was no Primal Fear, but it was very good.

The Mothman 08-25-2007 08:47 PM

Wilderness
7/10
nice n' gritty. well done i liked it alot.

Tetsuo: Iron Man
7/10
strange and dark, and rather funny sometimes. surrealist cinema at it's best.

Election (1999)

They were playing this at the campus theatre here in Iowa, and as it's only my second day, and I haven't really met anyone yet, I thought I'd check it out. Hell, it was free.

And you know what? I really enjoyed it. It was a solid comedy sprinkled with deadly serious themes and tones- one of those movies were you don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Anyway, worth a watch.

Alpha Dog is based on a true story and the 5'5" 150 lb kid is similar to the real drug dealer kid (jesse james hollywood).... Sounds like a fake name but that was his real name. I liked the movie... This is the actual case that they based the movie from.

The Departed, first time viewing.
While I would say this doesn't hold a candle to Goodfellas, it was still a pretty good watch, all parts played well.
Nice amount of splatter thrown in.
I personally don't think it was the masterpiece some people have made it out to be, but it was entertaining.
I was a little confused as to why the Whalberg cop character shot...that person...towards the end? What angle was he playing there?

Makes me want to check out the infernal affairs series.
Will they sequel this one too?

Amalthea_unicorn 08-26-2007 02:44 AM

Pixar's Cars 9/10

XtRaVa 08-26-2007 05:04 AM

Vacancy 6.5/10

This one annoyed/puzzled me. It starts great and unashamedly predictable (which works well). However I found myself wondering why the couple werent trying to make weapons to protect themselves from the get-go...Just seemed idiotic to me. Also it ends so abruptly which is a let down.

Amalthea_unicorn 08-26-2007 07:29 AM

In the Mood for Love 8/10

the_real_linda 08-26-2007 10:22 AM

sugarland......... weird but good

jenna26 08-26-2007 10:39 AM

The Covenant ~ I have no excuse, except to say that it is a free preview weekend. Couple of cool scenes I suppose......but pretty much crap.

Scary Movie 4 ~ I usually don't care for these movies, in fact I had only bothered to watch the first one......but since I was drunk, I laughed quite a bit more than I normally would I think. And I don't remember much about it....so it worked out great.

There are talks that there is a sequel and a prequel on the way, but I don't buy it.

Dante'sInferno 08-26-2007 01:05 PM

Predator 2.

scarecrow666 08-26-2007 01:48 PM

Hellraiser part 6 Hellseeker. It was alright.

Currently trying to get through my Hellraiser films ....... Just 2 more to go now.

The Birds (1963)

Like most Hitchcock films, this one just improves with age. It really is a fine wine. The effects still remain impressive and horrifying, and, surprisingly, we find ourselves sometimes more interested in things other than the terror at hand.

anyone who decides to make a sequel to the departed is retarded. (heh)
prequel would be cool, but i doubt it will happen either.

jenna26 08-27-2007 09:27 AM

The Night Listener ~ could have been great, but was really kind of bland, despite some pretty strong performances.

Invincible ~ not bad.

Freedomland ~ another that could have been great, but was just disappointing.

Lemora, a Child’s Tale of the Supernatual – Sam’s tale of boredom. Turned it off after about 25 minutes.

Shaun of the Dead....again. So good.
Cube. I really love the atmostphere of this movie. Seems to get me everytime.
Night of the Creep. was alright but didn't compare to the other previously mentioned. That's the problem with watching too many movies a day.

and finally, masters of Horror. The Damned Thing.. I didn't really like it.

One of my all time favorite horrible movies: Rock N Roll Nightmare.
If you have any appreciation for bad movies, you have to see this. I make people watch it when they come over, and they almost pee themselves. ALMOST. If they actually peed, I wouldn't show it. Still, John Mikl Thor is the new favorite guy around my neighborhood. Him and his metal studded thong. Watch and try NOT to die laughing at the last ten minutes of the movie. It's almost impossible.

Yes, David Lynch made the film with you in mind.

Dawn of the dead (remake), first time since I saw it at the movies a couple of times. It's one of the best remakes i've ever seen, as in you can actualy enjoy it and forget it is a remake! 7.5/10
