Blood Feast

Who doesn't love Herschel Gordon Lewis?

crabapple 08-10-2007 11:18 AM

I love Herschel, and in fact I am going to watch Blast-Off Girls, or at least listen to the audio while doing something else.

Freak 08-10-2007 12:15 PM

Pathfinder 4/10 not to bad a flick but I got a dvd with bad audio or something so it made it really hard to enjoy.

Disturbia 7/10 At first I didn't think I was going to enjoy it that much but it turned and to be very good IMO.

The Night Flier- 8/10

Wow, this was a shock! I've always liked vampire movies, but this one is my new favorite. I don't know what everyone's opinion on this was but I absolutely loved it. I was a bit skeptical but when the final climax occured..... It was totally amazing. Very bloody, and actually kinda scary. Great ending.... Go see it if you haven't.

The Evil Dead
...last seen this classic @ 1987 as far I remember (this is the first horror flick that brought me badly into the genre!); so after a long long time, watched it again just the day before yesterday & still enjoyed every scene of it.

blades of glory, 5/10. it's no old skool or anchorman.
whatever happened to baby jane, 9/10. one of the great psychological thrillers.
blood diamond, 7/10. standard action/intrigue movie with a little too many public service announcements

The Inside Man

A better than average heist/hostage flick with a really fun ending. Spike Lee shows off some rather flashy skills and the top-notch cast (Clive Owen, Denzel Washington, Chiweetil Ejiofor, Christopher Plummer and Jodie Foster) all act their asses off. Nothing earth-shattering, but a triumph of execution over substance.

7.5/10

On the Waterfront (1954)

Really one of the greatest motion pictures ever made, and my favorite Brando performance by a mile-and-a-half. The ending is so powerful, so uplifting, so strong, that it seems like we are living the experience, not just watching it.

And, it delivers the finest spoken line in cinema history:

"You think you're God Almighty, but you know what you are? You're a cheap, lousy, dirty, stinkin' mug! And I'm glad what I done to you, ya hear that? I'm glad what I done!"

Sends chills up and down my spine whenever I hear it- but only from Marlon's mouth. Golden...

The French Connection (1971)

Easily the greatest police movie to roll out of the 70s, including Dirty Harry.

Die Hard 4.0
I guess fans of the series will see this regardless, what'll make them happy is they won't be dissapointed. It met my expectations, those being "Die Hard 1 was classic and incomparable for it's time, 2 was a louder (and IMO crappier) remake more or less, 3 was the redeemer...so I hope it's a lot better than 2, and around as good as 3."
Expectations met.
Good dialogue, a couple of interesting villains (you'll know who when you see it), some chunky fights, and a decent plot.
Not lacking violence...nothing graphic like blood splattering walls from bullet wounds or severed limbs, but all very well done.
Meets the standard of the diehard franchise being the "above average action series" that it is.
Definately a good one to go out on, and not a dissapointment whatsoever.

The Host
Cheesy, but a pretty good Asian Monster filx. The CGI sea monster looks cool.
NOT on par with Jaws. Like the DVD cover says.

I expected this to be really fun, but I am not hearing a lot of great things. I need to see it soon

Candyman
Sin City
Hellraiser: Hellseeker ~ better than expected.
Ghost Game ~ a complete bore.

Dead and Breakfast
Hadn't seen this one before. Silly, uneven, could have been a classic if not for a few terrible casting, acting & dialog issues...but my kids loved it. They certainly didn't skimp on the gore.

Good, token 80's cheesy factors, but definately a good spin on the usual female roles.

Scarface (1932)

If I were to compile a list of the most important films of all time, this would have a comfy position in it. Everytime I watch it I like it more, and I loved it to begin with. The performances are impeccable, the violence extreme (for the conditions of the time period, of course), and the story heartbreakingly tragic.

Give me this over the DePalma/Pacino version any day. Honest.
