The Mothman 12-27-2008 09:47 AM

Been playing Deadspace a good amount lately, however this game is almost completly destroyed by its difficulty setting. Hard is entirely too hard, Monsters are way too tough, ammo too scarce, to the point where its not fun, and medium is way too easy. moster die too quickly, and theres more ammo laying around than I can even carry, not rewarding or satisfying. pisses me off that the developers would make a stupid mistake like that that ruins a game.

does anyone know if the monsters get tougher and medium gets harder by any chance? because they go down with like 2 shots, its rediculous.

Have you got through the asteroids shoot-down stage?

ChronoGrl 12-27-2008 03:58 PM

I just started playing Dead Space for the 360 myself. I'm not particularly good at aiming and shooting, so Easy suits me just fine. :D

I'm scared pretty easily, though - The game is orchestrated like a horror movie, from direction to music to graphics... It's horrifying me already. I'm going to have to take a breather before picking up the controller again. :o

GORGEOUS game, though. And it's definitely satisfying my inner geek.

The Mothman 12-27-2008 04:10 PM

Fallout 3
at first I was dissapointed. It feels and plays in every way shape and form like Oblivion, which was what I was looking for, but for some reason wasnt too happy about. I thought the V.A.T.S. combat system made it too easy and was a boring idea.

boy did i change my mind.

As soon as i got out of the vault and started exercising my limitless freedoms i loved it. No more mr. nice guy in this one. In oblivion i was nice to almost everyone and was some sort of town hero. In Fallout 3 I had the choice to disarm a bomb sitting in a town full of people or blow it up and kill them all. Blew it up, then murdered the poeple who hired me to do it and stole their expensive shit. no annoying cops chasing after me like in oblivion either. My guy looks like someone out of Doomsday, mohwak and hockey mask and torn clothing and all sorts of shit. this game is tons of fun. fucking blast. The VATS system has grown on me to, exploding heads in slow motion is fucking awesome.

Azazel005 12-29-2008 06:28 AM

I love VATS, it is a considerable boon to someone with less then stellar precise aiming skills. I think it would be interesting to ignore it and apply all your perks on things that aren't relevant too VATS, nut I couldn't hit a rhino that was missing three legs and was ambly very very slowly away from me... so yeah I like VATS.

It's funny though, I started my second and most beloved character with the same mindset as you Mothman. Though as he garnered power and wealth... stealing and taking become redundant... and through no fault of my own the guy grew a conscience and wanted to help people... it was SUPREMELY satisfying.

Shoot up some regulators for me Moth.

You happen to disagree?

Azazel005 12-30-2008 03:29 AM

I think she is just writing a book about comeback jokes... and getting some practice in.

Despare 12-30-2008 06:11 PM

Rampart, the wife and I play it all the time on the PS2.

VERY short but it's meant to be played through multiple times and with friends is the best, especially on expert where one regular zombie hit takes pretty much 25% of your health away. DLC is on the way though...

Avatars are a cool little addition, not as goofy as the Miis at least. I've just started Mass Effect, very cool sci-fi setting and story so far.

Angra 01-01-2009 10:19 AM

6 hours into "Rise of the Argonauts". Still not loving it.

Way too much boring dialogue for this type of game, and the fighting system is for people with 10 thumbs. The graphics looks really PS2ish and the map sucks.

VampiricClown 01-01-2009 11:05 AM

Call Of Duty: World At War

Fixing to try playing it through on 1-Player mode, so that I can get the levels unlocked for Co-Op. Turns out, there is no save system for split-screen Co-Op. Supposedly, it unlocks all the levels for selection, when you beat it on single player. Hopefully, it will.

I've also heard something about a "zombie" mode?

Yea, I've read that as well somewhere.

Obviously something you need to unlock.

I looked up a trailer for the zombie feature. I thought it was joking...I guess they are trying to compete with Left 4 Dead.

Kind of made me think back to the Wolfenstein series and a bit of Bloodrayne while watching the trailer.

I guess I'm going to be fighting to unlock that now. That just sounds cool.

:D

"Bioshock"

I guess i have the same issues whith this game as most of you gamers have with "Dead space". Same enemies, same surroundings and the story isn't overly exciting.

Not saying it's boring. Just saying it's far from perfect..

The story REALLY picks up though, a game isn't as easy to judge in the beginning as a movie generally is, hopefully the beginning is gripping enough to keep you playing.

Which should I get COD4 or COD:WOW?
I've played COD2 to death, does World At War feel similar because its still WW2?

They need to make a Call Of Duty for Vietnam.

Freak 01-09-2009 04:11 PM

Personally I would go with COD 4.I played WaW and didn't care for it much at all.Plus I think the online of 4 is far better.I'd say give them both a rent and then make a decision.

Beginnig?

Dude, i'm more than half way through it. Just took a break to play Rise Of The Argonauts.

missmacabre 01-09-2009 11:41 PM

Oh man Derek and I have played throught Fallout 3, Bioshock, FEAR, and both FEAR sequels. He has beat Gears of War on single player and we're1/4 through Gears on co-op, all since Christmas day. The FPS are making me dizzy though lately so we played through LEGO Indiana Jones in one sitting, while treasure chesting.

The_Return 01-10-2009 05:31 AM

Just bought Geist yesterday, for Gamecube - will likely start that one tonight.

It got pretty mixed reviews...any of you guys played it?

The Mothman 01-10-2009 09:18 AM

Got into Deadspace again, it didnt get any harder, dont think I've died once since I've been playing it, but its till kinda fun and good for achievements. I beat the comet shooting part, Angra (:

Honestly, I don't really know that I could help you much there. I've never played Modern Warfare, or 3. I used to have the second one on PC.

Dont use both cannons at once, it overheats way faster that way, try and get them while they are far away, and concentrate, it certainly wasn't easy when I tried it.

Right on, to each their own and all, I honestly think judging the narrative in videogames is more subjective than movies being that it's such an interactive experience. Personally I loved the atmosphere in Bioshock and the story began building in layers for me. Besides, I should have taken into account that you don't like popular things Mr. Dark Knight basher. ;)

I'm playing lots of World at War and Smackdown Vs. Raw lately, haven't had time to get into the others.
