Hate that movie. Stanley Kubrick destroyed everything Stephen King did in the book and now anyone ever talks about is the movie despite the book being so much better. I've even seen references in film and TV when they say they are talking about the book but only reference things that only happened in the movie and not the book. Plus i just think it's overrated. It's on every single best of horror lists. Its not that good.

I've read the book a couple times now, and it's my third favorite Stephen King book, but I enjoyed the film more; it's my 6th favorite horror film. I respect your opinion because my friend is exactly like you. I got him into Stephen King, and he liked the book a lot more than the movie.
