Oh, got ya. I was assuming it was in italian, but as you said it was recorded in english. ::smile::

BEYOND ATLANTIS (1973). Possibly the most wholesome (meaning no excessive violence or Female nudity) Filipino 70's film. Regular Vic Diaz gets pearls for services and a group of somewhat shady characters want to get in on the spoils and try to avoid the angering the natives too much-check out the eyes!
Stunning underwater photography helps the plot-almost like TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE with how the characters change. Decent cast with Patrick Wayne, John Ashley and Sid Haig, who steals the film with a great line about what is "Sacred" to him. Could have been better, but not too bad. **1/2

An American Werewolf in London

Holy crap, this just seems to get better with every rewatch.

The film in itself stands rock solid. The storytelling, the performances, the build up,... all top notch. A few things deserve a separate mention, though.

First of all, the special effects. There is of course the infamous transformation scene that has aged well. Not to mention the portrayal of the wolf, making it as scary as possible. Or the progressively worse state that Jack is in.

Then, there is the humor.

The scene with David waking up in the zoo is hilarious. Jack keeps wisecracking, even in the state he is in near the end. Then again, what else is there to do, cry?

Or the scene in the porn theatre. Jack confronts David with his victims from the night before. And even after he horribly killed them, they still have that typical British "Hello". I thought that was hilarious.

And there's a few more funny moments, like David on the phone with his sister. Or the scene where David tries to get himself arrested (Queen Elizabeth is a man!). Or the details you notice on a second viewing. I already saw the cameo by Rik Mayall, but Bottom-fans should keep their eyes peeled in the pub. The guy who plays Rotweiler in the gasman episode has a part here as well.

I enjoyed AWIL. And like you more so each time I see it. Always sorta a David Naughton fan ::big grin:: You can be a Pepper too! But I was never a BIG fan of this film. I still prefer The Howling... mostly because I didn't think AWIL was all that funny or horrific. It's just one's own funny bone, personal taste.

AWIL's flatfooted wolf is good. Personally I found the standing wolves in The Howling much more frightening.

I always like David Naughton's disco song Makin It. Ever hear it? I had/have the record! ::big grin::
It was written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris, the team also responsible for Gloria Gaynor's #1 hit "I Will Survive" and Peaches and Herb's #5 hit "Shake Your Groove Thing" and #1 hit "Reunited".
