MONSTER DOG (1985). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOLIE RS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> After releasing DADA and being dropped from Warner Brothers, Alice Cooper cleaned himself up and took a few years off before releasing CONSTRICTOR in 1986. really cheesy film has Coop playing Vince (!!::shocked::, his real name) Raven, a big rock star returning to his home after many years to film a video.
Of course, there are setbacks to this, especially violent townspeople (who look like they could be in Sam Peckinpah and Sergio Leone westerns!) convinced Vince has the "Family Curse". Gets pretty violent towards the end with Alice having many of his Stage faces when he is commiting meyhem.
Pretty awful throughout, in particular the title character, although if You are a Cooper fan, you should check it out. At any rate, it's a lot better than KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK, not that's any real consolation. There are two songs in the film; "See Me in the Mirror" is nothing great (although he does have the 1981 SPECIAL FORCES LOOK), but "Indentity Criseses" which opens and closes the film is actually pretty damn good and sounds much like Iggy pop. Both ended up on THE LIFE AND CRIMES OF ALICE COOPER boxset. **

Good call, sounds Iggy Pop.

MANIAC (1980).>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOLIERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>.

Pretty sure I reviewed this earlier, but after seeing the photo from Deadbeat At Dawn's last post, decided to watch it again.
When dating, my Wife had special condemnation for this (similar to the Gallery of Outrage in the Special Features) telling Me how She wanted to "...shower when it was over" and after ten minutes as well, whereupon I asked her if She didn't like it, why not just leave and see something else::stick out tongue::?

Quite grim and squalid, but well made and really good Savini work, even if he all but disowns it these days. Noticed this past viewing how Convincing the Nurse in the Subway (I think the actress is Kelly Piper, not 100%) is in showing her absolute terror while hiding in the bathroom stall..you can almost smell her sweat. Almost as frightening is seeing Porn vet Sharon Mitchell as a Nurse (offering Kelly a ride home, which she should have took)-after watching the deviants SM played in the XXX trenches, just wonder what kind of "care" she would show a patient after visiting hours::danger::? ***1/2

and this one, my favorite would have to be "H.b.t.C.

I love all three flicks myself, but The Beyond is my fav. Watching the 12yr old version of the girl from Wendy’s getting a soft ball sized hole blown through her skull is alone worth the price of admission, I also just love the overall bleak and nightmarish atmosphere, also Cinzia Monreale is hauntingly alluring in her portrayal of blind Emily. Though, the zombies in the end were not supposed to be in this movie. Fulci originally envisioned a more supernatural and surreal film, but the German distributors ( banking on his previous Zombi success ) forced him to add zombies. Still a great overall film, but the sudden shift in gear tone towards the end is a bit jarring. Also, I’m pretty sure Fulci purposely made the doc shoot the zombies everywhere BUT the head just to fuck with everyone, lol.

But I’m glad you got to see all three films. You’ve finished Fulci’s “ Trilogy of Death “... Cuz y’know, he only ever made three films that had anything to do with death...
