I have to try some GTAIV online, my brother and two of my cousins just got CoD4 fairly recently and it's been nice to get to play with them and catch up, act a bit immature, and basically just have fun. When you get it back we'll have to play a few rounds.

I'm sure you will kick my ass....but I'm willing to give it a go.

Just been playing some Air-Sea Battle on the old Atari.

Fun game in 2 player mode. Especially when beer is involved.

newb 10-18-2008 07:15 AM

Watching my son play Fable 2 now. Beautiful graphics and excellent voice acting.

can't wait for him to finish so I can play.

ChronoGrl 10-18-2008 12:18 PM

Jericho just came in!!!

And BOY do I suck at FPS's... Even on Easy I keep dying. :(

What I DO think is really cool, though, is the fact that you have the ability to heal your team and they can heal you. Makes you more cognizant of your team around you.

You can kill a man from 100 yards away... WITH A MIND BULLET! That's telekinesis baby!

I'm just getting into being able to take over your teammates. I think that it's a cool feature, but I'm having a hard time getting used to it (it's me... I'm not much of a seasoned gamer).

Now I'm getting killed by the machinegun pillboxes. :(

ManchestrMorgue 10-21-2008 02:57 AM

rFactor

Racing simulator, with an excellent mod community. Lots of free downloadable mods/tracks/cars. Also an extensive online racing community.

The F1 car especially gives an amazing sense of speed.

This sounds silly, but to practice with FPS games (uf you care enough to waste some time on it), load up a game like Counter Strike: Source (if you have it) and run around practicing jumping and shooting, shoot cans, garbage, or pick a spot on a wall and see how close you can get while moving, then practice standing still.

Even better, if you have Half-Life 2, load up the map where you have to travel on the beams of the bridge (I'll see if i can get you the map name), type in the cheat to get all the weapons, and practice shooting sea gulls with the crossbow and magnum (use the shotgun if you get frustrated :D) It sounds like a complete waste of time, but it is an awesome hand-eye coordination exercise.

Plus, it is fun watching them go limp and then fall 200 feet into the water. Hey, they arent real birds...

"Fifa 09" PS3

The best Fifa so far.

"Saints Row 2" PS3

Been playing this non stop since I got it.

"Bioshock" PS3

Not enough horror atmosphere, but the story seems really good. I guess i'll finnish it sometime. Riiiiight after Saints Row 2. Or Dead Space maybe.

Just wait, when you get to the point where you have to finish somebody's "gallery". You get more of a horror vibe later on for sure. Although even in the beginning, the splicer with the gun and the baby carriage, the big daddy just demolishing a splicer in front of you as you watch hoping it won't break through the glass...

I thought it started out with a good bit of horror vibe and then ramped up through the game.

Agreed...although I was into it from the beginning, found the unique "reality" quite enthralling.
The PS3 version seems to look a bit crisper though, I played through on x360.
Definately will scare you...but if you wait ages, you may regret not getting into it sooner.

I'm still on the ps2's "call of duty - big red one", not a bad game, definately not the best I've seen of the series.

I just finished playing Dead Rising i love that game!

I stopped around the time you have to diffuse the bombs in the parking garage and haven't picked it back up since. :(

That kind've shit pisses me off, the makers fucking up an otherwise fun game by putting in something that's just un-enjoyable and/or irritating in there.

I actually never played much of Dead Rising at all - I could've got into it but chose not to, in all honesty I found it to be lacking in atmosphere...had potential though.

Angra 10-27-2008 09:23 PM

Don't get me wrong. I think the atmosphere is great and i love the music score. But it's just not creepy.

Has some cool moments tho, like the doll girl hacking some corpse in the small theatre or the shadows on the walls when the freaks come running for you.

But it's much more of an action/adventure game than horror.

I thought it was a creepy sci-fi action adventure with horror overtones. Atmosphere is a big thing in games and a lot of developers seem to overlook it, which is why Dead Rising is an action game with zombies instead of a horror game filled with zombies and action.

I died a crap load of times, got pissed, then quit but i started back up like 3 days ago. My van keeps breaking down though and the zombies keep attacking me. I keep almost beating it.

That game looked nuts.

My bro has got a 360 so he let me have(I think) his ps2 games so

Metal Gear Solid 2

Final Fantasy XII

Legacy of Kain:Defiance

XIII

Phalanx 10-29-2008 09:27 PM

I thought XIII was really cool.
The KAIN series was pretty good, never played defiance though, that was the last one I think?

illdojo 10-30-2008 07:08 PM

Guitar Hero 4: World Tour on Wii
Just rented it. Great set lists and finally TOOL has 3 songs...Parabola, Schism and Vicarious. I'm a TOOL fanatic, so I was stoked.

VampiricClown 10-31-2008 07:32 AM

Fable II.........

Yeah I had my reservations about XIII with the whole look but it's not too bad.

Kain is just one of those playstation type action games but its fun and I can't stop playing it.

Fable II stealing your life away vamp?

Not too badly. Oddly enough, I've only been able to actually sit down and play it about 3 times since I bought it.

Phalanx 11-01-2008 03:17 PM

If you like the storyline of XIII, it's based on a comic - there's a tv series of it too now.

Vodstok 11-03-2008 06:29 AM

Portal: The first slice.

Essentially the demo for portal, its the first 11 "tests". God, I have been dying for that damn game for over a year now, and now I want it even more. the gameplay is amazing and challenging, and the sense of humor in the VOX voiceovers is awesome.

"Failure to navigate the course correctly will result in a negative addition to your score, followed by death."

Picked up Farcry 2. Been playing it a while, but its still taking some getting used to.

Phalanx 11-03-2008 06:41 PM

Getting used to?
Are you not into fps games generally?

No, the story just confused a bit at first. Map editor as well. Ive been playing it a little bit more and have become more accustomed to it though. Its a good game counting the online play.

Phalanx 11-04-2008 06:42 PM

Single player not so much so?
Too bad if so, I really liked the mission of the first one.

newb 11-05-2008 03:50 PM

Gears of War 2

if you liked the first....you will love this one.

Vodstok 11-05-2008 04:14 PM

Prey

Holy shit, how did I miss this one for so long? The graphics and animation in some parts are a bit dated, but the story, acting, gameplay, walking upside down, portals, spirit walking, jesus, the list goes on. Fucking brilliant.

Oh, and the duke-nukem esque voice over rules.

Taking a break from Fable II. I've been playing The Outfit a little bit.

I will be picking up a few games tomorrow as well.

I'll have to try that. I've never gotten into the Half Live games, but I've heard they're pretty good.

It's not that bad. It definitely has its weaknesses. I'm not a huge fan of being forced occasionally to press particular buttons in a particular order to make a particular character do things (climb, etc) that aren't relevant for most of the game.

The game isn't great, but it's not bad. I think that the graphics are pretty brilliant at times and the beasties look really cool. It's fairly redundant, though. I wish it wasn't so linear.

What other problems do people find with this game? I've heard complaints about it - Who else has played it? What are your thoughts?
