WILLARD (1971). "The One Movie You Must Not See Alone!" was heard on lots of TV/Radio ads after it's release and finally talked my Dad in taking my ten year old self to see it a few months later. Not really a good impression at the time, but it's aged well and Bruce Davison is quite good in the title role.

Still really love the "TEAR HIM UP!!!!!!!" scene...have had a few supervisors I would have happy to do that to.

The book it is based on RATMAN'S NOTEBOOKS isn't bad, even if it takes place in England (Los Angeles in the film) and the 2003 remake with Crispin Glover is OK too.

Also a little trivia, the secretary Ernest Borgnine is getting fresh with ("I was just doing the old Broad a Favor!") and discovers Socrates in the work storeroom (Not crazy about rats, but can't watch this scene) was "Stella" in 1946's HOUSE OF HORRORS as the model who gets done in by Rondo Hatton ("Stop Screamin!")! ***

I always though Crispin was born to play Willard. Inspired casting. The 2003 Willard has good production values, but a very uncreative dull script/story. Seemed a total 1970s mentality. And obviously an actual remake, not reimagining. Missed opportunity to be smart and biting for a 2003 audience.

I saw Ben as a kid, but never seen Willard 1971.

You know I had to. Surprisingly well done ...had the 80's cheese and fluff but worth watching.
