Magic

Wow this was not what i was expecting but this was really good. This definitely gave my movies a more well rounded experience as this was a completely different type of horror movie then the other too. But it was just as scary. Anthony Hopkins is amazing in this. He's seriously creepy both when hes playing corky and when hes in Fats mode. The story felt a little rushed but once you get into you can't stop watching. Really recommend.

8/10

And now for next weeks selection:

KILLER CLOWN WEEK

I've always found clowns scary, theres just something unsettling about them. One thing i like about watching horror movies about clowns is that theres just something interesting about watching something thats supposed to make you laugh and bring you entertainment instead filling you with terror. Now here are the movies:

Me too. One of my favorites. I usually watch it every year so i had to fit it in and a clown week seemed like a good idea.

I knew you'd like Magic. You know quality performance when you see it. And patience... the film has depth setting, and I wouldn't call it misdirection, but almost a change of season in mood pacing.

I've never found clowns scarey or unsettling, have no idea what people are talking about. http://forums.civfanatics.com/images/smilies/idunno.gif

Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a lot fun. I thought it was very smart and creative. I read a sequel is in the works, from the same two brother writer/directors.

Yeah they've been talking about that for awhile. I'd be interested in seeing it

I've loved this movie ever since i was a little kid and i never get tired of watching it. It's funny and creepy at the same time and the clowns are awesome looking. There are a lot of great quotable lines and it manages to create a good atmosphere to it that's actually trying to be scary instead of just being silly all the time. One thing i noticed this time around is my feelings towards Detective Mooney played by John Vernon. Usually i can't stand him but this time i found him hilarious. Between talking to himself, actually the name of the movie and his ridiculous steadfast belief that the whole town was playing a joke on him he was a great character. This movie is a lot of fun, offers up some great looking clowns and is actually pretty creepy.

Although there is a stigma attached to this film, and for good reason, not to mention the acting being terrible this isnt all that bad. It's not too scary and in fact plays out like a long episode of Are You Afraid of The Dark? But it has its scary moments and is entertaining throughout.

This isn't bad, it's entertaining at least. The stories aren't great or really all that original but the clown sequence is really good and is worth it to watch just for that alone.

Now even though it seems like people have lost interest in this i am going to continue and move on to a more traditional theme for this week:

GHOST WEEK

One of the creepiest and most popular genre of horror movies, there are a ton of good ghost movies and it took me awhile and a couple times of switching movies in and out but i finally came up with 3 that i think are good movies to watch for this theme and here they are:

Good thing I just got The Sixth Sense on DVD.

Good mix. I'll be watching the Changeling, I'm not 100% sure if I ever saw it before. Loved Sixth Sense. Never a fan of Frighteners though, it was a little too light in everything for me, & it didn't tickle my funny bone.

The Sixth Sense

Not the first time I've seen this movie. The Sixth Sense is one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm completely blown away by the quality every time I watch it. What more can I say?

You'll love The Changeling. I almost didn't go with Frighteners but I haven't seen it in awhile and I thought I'd go with something different.

Its definitely a great movie. Been awhile since I've seen it

Loved Changeling and Sixth Sense and I understand your viewing preference for Frighteners but any of these great Asian Ghost flick (i.e. Pulse, Ju-on, Shutter, Dark Water) or classic like The Woman In Black (Original) or even modern day masterpieces like The Others, Devil's Backbone or The Orphanage would be a better choice, IMO.

Yes they would be. Frighteners isn't the best, just what I felt like watching

It must have been the mood that I was in but this movie really eeked me out and I had to shut it off. ::embarrassment::

How's Ghost Week going?

Last week I watched

Legend of Hell House (1973)

This was my second time seeing the movie and I find it legitimately creepy. Definitely recommended.

The Villain 10-22-2014 10:14 AM

It was too hard keeping up with the schedule and it took the fun out of watching movies so I abandoned it. I did watch The Sixth Sense though

That's exactly what happened to me too! A bit of a shame because I did like doing the video chat - Maybe we could just figure out another time to chat.

BTW - Changeling and Haunting are coming in from Netflix this week - I'll post my reviews here to keep up with your Ghost Week!
