I don't know how this will end but I'm looking forward to it. Not in a good way but it will finally be over way. It started off so well too. Now they are just cleaning stuff up. Even with the two characters that are trapped in their own Hell. That was just an "oh" moment. It was surprising what happened to the main character. But since she I assume has all the powers she'll be back tomorrow to do something bad.

Whatever happens...
Misty Day should get naked. That should not be argued. Past that...I'm sure Jessica Lange will be back...no way an axe takes her out for good. |

Completely agree with the above statement, def missing something I am even finding myself a little bored with this season compared to the last 2 |
I'm calling out The Villain on this one! ::big grin::
All that Sturm und Drang about being bored cuz you knew exactly what was going to happen. Well, guess what? ::embarrassment:: |
MANY SPOILERS BELOW! STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW.
Thoughts on the finale'. I'll have to admit I didn't get as involved in this season as I did the first two. I think women might have a different opinion- particularly younger women. Stilll, there was enough to keep me interested, some real high points that make this show stand far above most other shows on TV. This finale' was more cohesively plotted than previous finales' I think. The "who's the next supreme" kept me guessing, and I liked how it resolved. Seeing Fiona after she came back from the dead was shocking- she really looked frail and near death. And her version of Hell I thought was very effective. I felt sorry for her being stuck with that guy for eternity. The 7 trials- the girls' visions of Hell were kind of lame, IMO. Seriously? Hell is breaking up with your boyfriend? I liked the symetry of the young guy being the new butler. Olive was one of my favorite characters. She was just quirky and odd, and I was sorry to see her get burned again. Overall I give this season a solid B, with the first two seasons rank A. It was flawed, but still enjoyable, with plenty to recommend it. |
just finished this
agree that this for me was the weakest season.Personally I'm not a big fan of witches and voodoo. Still very watchable though. |

Cordelia being the new supreme was interesting but the way it played out was anticlimactic and boring. This felt like any old episode instead of the finale. They did a terrible job building to this point. I honestly didn't care what happened and who the supreme was unlike the other seasons where I was excited to see how it ended. This was definitely the weakest finale and season to me. Quote:

Ooops- yes, Myrtle. I have a soft spot for anyone that plays a theremin.
|
I agree, with everyone, it was very lackluster for a finale. Disappointing that Cordelia ended up being the supreme - I was rooting for Misty. LOL
However, they did set it up nicely for it's own series. Which is what I've heard is going to happen. |

Taissa characters in all American Horror Story is just a Mary sue character which teen girl wish to be her because they want Peter Evans. I could tolerate first season with Violet and Tate but this season was just pure stupid unnecessary teen love triangle and teen angst. Zoe's character is just not interesting and poorly develop from beginning to end. Her version of hell was even more stupid. "Oh my boyfriend dumped me!" First thing I thought was Twilight. What I don't like is all the plot holes and the poor story structures American horror story always had. Seems like everything always started out good and ends up really half-assed in the end. More so in this season especially how character changed so fast but still have no character development. I'm so just so disappointed on how a 300 years old voodoo witch started out so power, strong and smart end up being so dumb and weak. Same with the Ancient witch hunter society. I was expecting them to be the final boss but they ended up being killed off so easily. I would assume an ancient witch hunter group would have at least magic repellents. I'm just not going to expect anything good from American horror story anymore. I still like it because of all the amazing actors, they always make the character their own. It's just the story development was bad as if the writer and director just got lazy in the end. |
I wonder what it will be next year
so far we've had ghost insane asylums aliens gestapo sadistic scientist demonic possession serial killer witches voodoo zombies resurrection any guesses? |

I'm glad that's over. I went from buy the DVD at the opening of the season to barely having any interest in watching the show. It was all over the place. Like the writers were just throwing stuff up on the board and going with what sounded cool or fun. Characters die and come back, do stuff that makes no sense, can be powerful in one instance and weak in the next. I guess I'll watch the fourth season. But I'll probably watch them in groups, not every week. Three seasons is more than enough for them to make a consistent show. All of these start strong and fall off. Coven started the strongest too.

Well, this is AMERICAN Horror Story. They've used the show to explore uniquely American legends and comment on American life. Vampires and werewolves are very much European legends. I don't see them going there.

You've completely missed the point of the entire series then.
It was Ryan Murphy's stated aim, in many interviews before the show started, and since, to comment on things in America's past and present that are troublesome, by using horror tropes filtered through American history and legends. This season alone they had references to the Salem witch trials- this happened in Salem, Massachusetts, not anywhere else- and slavery which plaqued America in it's early years, and used specific historical characters from New Orleans, which were involved in the voodoo religion which arose among the slaves. The other two seasons did similar things. Ir's like you don't even know what show you've been watching. It's no wonder you have such a low opinion of the show with your lack of knowledge of the show itself. They didn't name the show American Horror Story because it sounded nice- it has a meaning. I think the third season suffers only in comparison with the first two seasons. Murphy and Falchuck set the bar impossibly high. |

I have not.

Guess I'm alone but I thought the finale was great. Didn't see a few things coming which I dug.
Asylum is definitely the best of the three. I would rate the first season as my favorite if the ending wasn't so fucking atrociously shit ::smile:: I'd love to see a carnival story... although yeah Carnivale has already done it and I doubt very much it would be topped. A Manson style cult would be interesting too. |
A cult might be interesting. He did do serial killers with the Bloody Face thing, but that's not really the same thing.
|
Bigfoot....Mothman...Obamacare
|
Was hoping for the circus but I recently read that Murphy has plans for the next two seasons and a circus isn't it.
Urban Legends might be cool. |

Still done in the series' stylr it would be a winner especially if the lead is done well. They should bring Ian McShane back again whatever they decide to do. |

Going after American Cryptids in the fourth Season would be brilliant -
As for this season and the finale... Hmmmmmm - My initial reaction is that I was underwhelmed with it, but I think mostly because I thought that the first two seasons were so strong. The second season is my favorite, but probably because it hits on more subgenres that I enjoy than the first one does, though I disagree with disappointment in the Finale of the first season - I thought that the Finale of the first season was brilliant and just perfect, and rang true to the title of the series; it's a classic Horror Story trope to end with a semi-happy ending, but with a twist... As for THIS season - Man, this one was really a mess. I feel like they introduced a LOT of really interesting ideas and characters, but maybe it was too much - For example - There are three main conflicts that are brought up in the film:
I feel as though the first two of these conflicts were solved much too early and were really anticlimactic... So the conflict with the Witch Hunters brought the Voodoo Queen and Salem Set together? They easily kill the Witch Hunters (really? I mean, don't get me wrong - great scene, but seemed waaaay too simplistic) - Then after that, the Voodoo Queen is disposed of rather quickly and unceremoniously... As for the third point - I don't know - I think I lost interest in who the next supreme was when Madison tried to bury Misty alive - I think because we were distracted otherwise as an audience... So when we return for the 7 Wonders - Man, Honestly, it was too little too late. I loved it in concept but I thought that that episode just really fizzled. HOWEVER, I like the idea of Cordelia becoming the next Supreme because this show has been a study of how being the Supreme changes and perverts people, so I think there's some ominous undertones there... But I think the last episode was mostly anticlimactic... Other notes - Mostly echoing what NE said - I love their exploration of Immortality and Hell. I do agree that making people immortal definitely lessened the Stakes, but on the other end is going to Hell - And the Hells represented here, while seemingly mundane, I found interesting and really horrifying in some ways. You may envision Hell with fire and pitchforks - But just waking up away from your daughter and in the house of a Fling might be another kind of Hell - Like Queenie in the Fried Chicken stand - Hell isn't extreme torture, but it's the mundane awfulness of day-to-day that you need to endure for eternity. It would be like me repeating this day over and over again - Very interesting concept. The exploration of Immortality could actually be why the two main conflicts sort of dissipated - But that, in my opinion, also means that there was just too much packed into this season. I was sad to see Myrtle burned. But I suppose part of the point is that no sin goes unpunished... I liked the bookend of Kyle becoming the new Butler. The very end - Where we leave the girls - I thought was kinda lame but... I don't know. I just think it was a relatively uneven season. Still one of the best shows on TV, but a little too uneven for me to be completely forgiving. |
I think Kathy Bates was really under-utilized. She's one of the best actresses alive and shne didn't get to do anything really juicy after her first couple episodes.
Next season has to really be strong, since it's going to be Lange's last. The whole series should end after next season, IMO. |
I LOVED the first season!(murder house) so creepy and awesome.
The second one was okay, found myself losing concentration but got good half way through! The third season (Coven) i felt like i'd had to force myself to watch it, some episodes were fab! but i was expecting more ::confused:: Lets just hope they throw out some other series ! Ive heard a rumor that its either between; American Horror Story - Circus & American Horror Story - Orphanage AWESOMENESS ! <3 |

I had forgotten that next year will be Lange's last. That makes me sad. |
