evil dead, im a stickler for the originals;)

knife_fight 04-03-2013 09:05 PM

Evil Deadddd

metternich1815 04-03-2013 10:08 PM

We have a winner! Here were the results:

The Evil Dead: 6 (natedog722, MichaelMyers, tiberius, Rela1024, Fulg HoarAR, and knife_fight)

Demons 2: 0

Evil Dead II: 4 (horrorfangirl66, Sculpt, The Villain, and bamahorrorfan87)

Thus, after a close match between The Evil Dead and its sequel, Evil Dead II, The Evil Dead emerged victorious!

My vote would have also have gone to The Evil Dead. I thought the sequel was pretty good, but I preferred the darker tone of the series. The humorous tone of the second was a huge shift, that I had trouble buying. I suppose the sequel is really good, but simply not as good as the original.

As much as I love all three, The Shining is one helluva horror juggernaut to top by any movie.

That is a vote for The Shining, if it was unclear.

Fulg HoarAR 04-04-2013 12:19 AM

-THE SHINING- 100% unequivocally without a doubt,

I think its one the best ever made, the only horror story of Stephen Kings in which the movie was better the book.

realdealblues 04-04-2013 05:12 AM

I will have to go with The Shining as well. Kubrick's films are tough to beat in any category.

horrorfangirl66 04-04-2013 05:55 AM

The Shining. "Here's Johnny!"

roshiq 04-04-2013 06:23 AM

The Shining

Btw, have anyone seen Room 237? It sounds interesting.

_____V_____ 04-04-2013 09:35 AM

Utterly, totally and completely love The Fog but The Shining is just a league above. The Shining, without doubt.

The Evil Dead for the previous one. Part II figures in my top 10 horror of all time but when it comes to comparing both films, the original is a cut above.

Anthropophagus 04-04-2013 10:08 AM

Gonna rock the boat and say...................The Changeling.I think.

natedog722 04-04-2013 11:19 AM

The Shining

tiberius 04-04-2013 11:19 AM

The Shining

metternich1815 04-04-2013 11:28 AM

It appears we have a winner! Here were the results:

The Fog: 0

The Shining: 8 (knife_fight, Fulg HoarAR, realdealblues, horrorfangirl66, roshiq, V, natedog722, and tiberius)

The Changeling: 1 (Anthropophagus)

Thus, The Shining clearly crushed all its competition to become the winner!

I definitely agree that The Shining was an absolutely brilliant film and would definitely have been my pick for this round. The Fog and The changeling are really awesome films, although not anywhere near the level of The Shining. I would go on to say it was one of the greatest horror films of the 1980s and possibly the entire century. This is one of the few films that have virtually no flaws. Plus, Stanley Kubrick directed this film and he is one of my all-time favorite directors. Thus, for me, despite the other two being great movies, The Shining was the only film I would have chosen.

Christine...

_____V_____ 04-04-2013 12:10 PM

Love all 3 but Silver Bullet has been a big favorite of mine through the growing years.

Corey Haim/Gary Busey get mine.

horrorfangirl66 04-04-2013 12:26 PM

This was tough. I am going to go with Christine.

Sculpt 04-04-2013 01:39 PM

Christine...

MichaelMyers 04-04-2013 02:12 PM

An agonizing, heart-wrenching decision. Cujo since Christine already has some votes.

Silver Bullet all day long.

Elvis_Christ 04-06-2013 09:24 AM

Dig all 3 but can't vote against Mr Carpenter so I'll go with Christine .

tiberius 04-06-2013 01:22 PM

Christine............

metternich1815 04-06-2013 01:32 PM

It appears we have a winner! Here were the results:

Cujo: 2 (MichaelMyers and The Villain)

Christine: 6 (natedog722, horrorfangirl66, sculpt, roshiq, Elvis_Christ, and tiberius)

Silver Bullet: 4 (V,Straker, Anthropophagus, and realdealblues)

Thus, after a close match between Silver Bullet and Christine, Christine emerged the winner!

For me, this match would have been between Cujo and Christine (although Silver Bullet is really good too). Ultimately, I believe Christine was the superior film because I thought the acting and story was more compelling than Cujo. Plus, Christine was directed by Horror Movie Genius John Carpenter. Although, in terms of acting, it should be noted that Cujo does star notable scream queen Dee Wallace, but I still would have voted for Christine.

Scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

MichaelMyers 04-06-2013 07:32 PM

Children of the Corn, great franchise.

Sculpt 04-06-2013 11:36 PM

Pet Cemetery is my pick.

Children of the Corn was not for me too, Malachi. But it did give me a funny name for a romantic horror movie about deaf teens on a farm... called "Children of a Lesser Corn".
