Thanks for the heads up on Party Down - This show is great! Utterly brilliant cast. I love Adam Scott (my "Ben" from Parks and Rec!!) - Love Lizzy Caplan too (and Jane Lynch goes without saying)...

...

And FYI, Friends... The Signal is On Instant... An excellent, intense, indie horror film with some very well-done horror humor and great acting.

I liked Yellow Brick Road but I thought they really dropped the ball on the ending.

I have to agree with you there. The cgi was weak in a few scenes as well but I enjoyed the story.

Hell yeah, loved it. What's your favorite regular episode?

Oh man, that's hard. Recently, I really loved the play episode.

I recommend the documentary Playing Columbine. It brings up a lot of questions on artistic ethics and videogame design.

I recently got netflix. It's just launched in the UK, so the library isn't as big as the one most of you will have. I did find this little gem though. they played the comedy angle a bit (probably to cover up the limited acting talent they had) and it worked really well. It's not destined to be a classic by any means, but I enjoyed it.

I don't know how many of you have seen That Mitchell and Webb Look, but it's pretty hilarious.

Sistinas666 02-01-2012 12:30 PM

Murder Party looks cool but it isn't on instant for me. I'm going to track this one down.

Checking out That Mitchell and Webb Look right now, funny stuff! Thanks for the rec!:)

Sistinas666 02-01-2012 12:44 PM

Some new finds:

Tales From The Crypt Presents: Ritual 8/10 Pretty decent flick, I guess its a remake of I Walked With A Zombie.

Carrie

2 I haven't seen yet but look interesting:

Quarantine 2
The Baby

missmacabre 02-02-2012 08:04 PM

Netflix Canada is different from the US but we just got Twin Peaks in and I am going to spend a good chunk of time watching it.

Tried to watch some of these but the "canned" laugh track was too annoying

Doc Faustus 02-03-2012 04:37 PM

Yeah. The laugh track is very obtrusive. This is the only recurring sketch it works for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PChzIsepmdk

I just discovered Lilyhammer. What a great series, it stars Steve Van Zandt and is hilarious. It reminds me a lot of when The Sopranos was light hearted and comedic. Its completely a different scenario than The Sopranos but I think fans will enjoy!

Sistinas666 03-03-2012 09:40 AM

Last night I decided to take a chance on an UK movie called Pure. What an amazing movie! Its not horror at all but is horrific imagining what it must be like to be the ten year old(going on 40) son of a drug addict. I highly recommend this movie. I have almost officially given up on Hollywood...I seems the only good movies I see are coming from overseas......

Doc Faustus 03-05-2012 04:51 PM

Fido (2006) - Utterly brilliant. Watch it if you haven't.

Grave Encounters (2011) - Both V and I liked it and thought it was a good addition to the "found footage" tome - Roshiq didn't really like it, though.

Insidious (2010) - Honestly, not my favorite (1/3 brilliant movie, 2/3 debacle)... But I know a lot of people here liked it...

Fido sure is great!

I agree with you about Insidious there's some brilliance in there but it's quite messy. That fucking Darth Maul looking demon basically killed it for me.

Grave Encounters was ok

The Wild & Wonderful Whites Of West Virginia

Would hardly call this a gem but holy hicktown batman. Drugs, jail, incest....the White family are about as disgusting as they are hilarious and sad. I guess living in a semblance of a city its easy to forget how "simple" some parts of America still are.

I take it this is a reality show/movie about a real family?

Yeah, a documentary crew just followed the family around for a year.

Just grabbed that to watch sounds interesting.

I found the Human Centipede through Netflix and was pretty disappointed by how tepid it was but I rebounded quickly with a new current favorite, Hobo With A Shotgun. I don't know if it technically classifies as horror as it's really a grindhouse/exploitation flick but man the gore was rewarding. I would highly recommend Hobo to anyone who can appreciate a gritty, gratuitous blood fest.

agreed....page 2 of this thread gives it a mention.

I'll watch anything with Rutger Hauer in it.

Herzog's Into the Abyss

Great documentary about the death penalty and a specific triple homicide case in Texas.

I've been rewatching Buffy: The Vampire Slayer the TV series through Netflix and having a blast. SPIKE! Hubba hubba!!
