I don't think it'll have that amount of running time, may be 1:45 or 2 hrs at best. Wikipedia says there will be a sequel "from the point of view of the adults"!

Don't know exactly why...may be I liked that TV movie too much or for Tim Curry, this trailer just didn't give me enough goosebumps or excitements that it supposed to deliver or I was expecting.

I just came across the trailer today on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnCdOQsX5kc) and actually... If the writing is smart, and the ending is changed... This has a lot of potential to be better than the original. (Keep in mind that's not saying a lot considering how much I don't care for the original.)

diezman 04-02-2017 08:11 PM

I love the original and I'm really looking forward to seeing the new one.

I don't get bent out of shape when a movie is a remake. If it can bring something new and different to the table then I'm game.

However, the book is very long. The original left quite a bit out due to time constraints. I'm curious how they are going to make this work with a shorter running time. Will this movie be the start of a series? Will it only be 2 parts? Will they cram as much as they can into a 1.5 to 2 hour time space? Or will the movie be 3 hours or longer?::confused:: I'm curious. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised.

We shall see::wink:: Still very much looking forward to this!

Toddallthingshorror 04-05-2017 06:12 PM

Just re-watched the original after that trailer came out. Still holds up.

As for the new one... I dont like the look of him at all..looks more goofy than sinister. I know Pennywise didnt look scary at all but thats what made it work. Non scary costume with an excellent and creepy performance. This guy looks like they're trying to hard. The trailer looked good but that moment where he ran at the camera yelling was just unintentionally hilarious. I look forward to it..but not am jumping on the bandwagon that I see around the web.

I haven't even seen the original. (who the hell decided clowns would be scary?) New one don't look too bad though, I might give it a watch. Anyone think I should watch the original too just fer reference 'r is it not worth it?

I haven't read any of the DT series. I like a lot of King but I'm far from one of his most fervent fans. I've considered digging into Dark Tower but I'm also thinking of just checking out the movie.
Now, IT I am a huge fan of. Loved the book and was incredibly disappointed in the mini series. My expectations are high for the new version, but I am very optimistic I won't be let down.

I dont tend to be disappointed. Im the kind of horror geek that can find the good in everything.

The Dark Tower move will play out as a semi sequel to the books. They built it so you dont have to know the story, but holy shit, the story is so freaking deep. You need to get into it. Just read the first book, its only like 250 pages. If your not hooked, then give up. But Im betting on you'll be hooked. It also helps that the Dark Tower ties together damn near every Stephen King book there is. It makes everything he has written that much more interesting because once you've been to the Tower, you find yourself looking for connections and finding them everywhere.

I'll be happy if the movie is half as cool as this friggin' artwork. I'm completely jealous.

On a side note. What if... So this movie is based in the 80's instead of the 60's. The mummy and the werewolf, the "Universal monsters" had lost some of their edge in the 80's and kids weren't as scared of them. This movie is being made by New Line. New Line owns Nightmare on Elm Street. What if we get a Pennywise Freddy instead of a Pennywise Mummy?

Pretty sure there's rooms to spare for every HDC regular. Dibs on the one nearest the cemetery.

My favorite candidates sadly aren't virgins. They're very hard to come by these days. ::sad::

“It” will float to the top of the box office heap when it hits theaters next month.

Initial tracking suggests that the Stephen King adaptation is on pace to open to more than $50 million when it premieres in the U.S. on Sept. 8, 2017. That’s a massive number, one that’s usually reserved for summer debuts or holiday launches. Plus, “It” carries an R-rating, with its director Andrés Muschietti telling Variety last month that the film doesn’t skimp on the gore.

“I’m so excited that it’s rated R,” he said. “I don’t feel that we held back in any aspect.”

“It” is one of King’s most beloved books, and anticipation has been high for the movie version. The initial trailer attracted 197 million views in its first 24 hours of release.

Sources close to the studio caution that the $50 million-plus number could be inflated, noting that the biggest September opening of all time was “Hotel Transylvania 2’s” $48 million debut, and this film carries an R-rating. They also note that even well-known horror franchises such as “Annabelle” failed to crack the $40 million mark in their opening weekends. Those sources believe an opening in the $40 million-range is more likely. Still, all signs are that “It” will be a major hit for the studio and should kick off the fall moviegoing season on a high note.

“It’s” likely success is also good news for the theatrical movie business. The summer box office has been battered by a series of film flops such as “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” “Baywatch,” and “Transformers: The Last Knight.” Ticket sales are down more than 4% for the year.

Warner Bros. and New Line are backing the film, which centers on a group of kids who face off with a terrifying monster who eats children and assumes the guise of a clown named Pennywise. The studio is already working on a sequel that will follow the children after they become adults.

Trailer looked fantastic. Big fan of Stephen King and rather liked Muschietti’s Mama as well. Definitely going to be checking this one out.

MichaelMyers 09-03-2017 12:52 PM

This film, from a genre Hollywood has spit on for decades, might single-handedly save the movie industry. http://deadline.com/2017/09/labor-da...ns-1202159557/

horrorcrux are the theaters empty where you work? Less popcorn to sweep up I guess.

hammerfan 09-08-2017 05:12 AM

So? Did anyone see It last night?

The Villain 09-08-2017 05:20 PM

I'm going on Sunday to see it

Roiffalo 09-08-2017 07:43 PM

My aunt is interested in going to see it, so we'll likely go soon. Just need to settle on a day (maybe even tomorrow afternoon because matinee idk).
