Yeh. Very odd. Kinda like a McDonalds play house. But strangely, it works.

You don't think that would look a little weird and fake? Me taking a picture of myself smiling like a millionaire.

I could never do that.

Not one of my house, I haven't got any, but here's my town. Some of the historic sites. It used to be the capital of the county. Been here since the Celtic times.

Castle, an Iron age fort where Queen Boudicea lived and later, a Norman Motte and Bailey Castle.

Ruins of a Priory from centruies ago.

Statue of Thomas Paine. He came from my town originally. He wrote the "Rights of Man", a book which got him hated in his time. It defended America trying to get independence and helped a lot.

YOU'RE WELCOME!

Sorry, but all the guys he actually helped died close to 200 years ago :p

Beautiful town though. That is one thing I miss baout living in europe is the sense of history everything has to it. The only structures in america that are over 200 years old are usually falling apart, and not very impressive if they werent. I mean really, I hada girlfriend in high school that live din an old colonial home, how impressed should I be that the guy who knew george Washington's friend lived in it for a month, and we care because its still standing?

New hampshire is boring....

Shes really upset with me again,
I didnt give her what she likes.
I dont know what to tell her,
Dont know what to say.
Everything got funky last night.

She was really bombed,
And I was really blown away,
Until I asked her what she wanted,
And this is what she had to say:
A pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.

She gets a charge out of bein so weird,
Digs gettin downright strange.
But I can keep a handle on anything,
Just this side of deranged.

She was gettin bombed,
And I was gettin blown away,
And she held it in her hand
And this is what she had to say:
A pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.

Actually not all of the row homes are that brightly colored, just a couple of blocks worth where I live. Mine is just a boring white (it's actually a converted apartment building that I share with two other tenets).

Most of the row houses in Baltimore look like this:

Or if you're in the bad section of town:

Actually, that looks like a pretty good spot to set up a studio. I like the layout.

How much is the rent? :)

Doesn't matter. You would probably get robbed and/or shot. Haven't you seen that HBO show the Wire? :p

I'm from New Orleans dawlin', we shoot back! :D

'Sides, I'm an artist, and we traditionally end up in the crappiest parts of town. I guess landlords don't like us dripping paint all over the place. A little trick I've learned in regards to moving into bad neighborhoods- first day, take all your clothes off, smear peanut butter all over yourself and run around in the yard with a machete, screaming. You'll never have problems with your neighbors after that.

And, gee, THANKS for spawning America. AWESOME. :p

LOL - Ok. All your pics of Baltimore are great, but I appreciate this the most - I spent a few days in Baltimore as part of a trade conference with my last job and, good GOD were we in the sketchy part... Scary stuff.

...

Oh, and for the record, Angra looks NOTHING like Gary Sinese. And Festered rules.

I have a least 2 weeks worth of tranquility here......

Yeh, the statue is about a 5-10 minute walk and the priory is just a tad longer.

@ Festered
Actually the artists in Baltimore are pretty scattered over several neighborhoods since the art school sits next to a bad area, but I don't think any artist in their right mind would want to live there. It's really just too dangerous. I've had my car vandalized several times and I live in a "nice" area.

@Nova
Baltimore has gone under a huge revitalization over the last decade with previously seedy areas are now hot metropolitan spots and there are new neighborhoods being revitalized as we speak. If you want to rehab old homes, Baltimore is really the town for it.

Yeah, I wanted to see the 'Red Light District' passing through this summer and now there are hardly ANY whores at all.:(

But onto being serious, I love when older cities decide to renew and renovate, it's a beautiful thing:)

ferretchucker 09-24-2008 06:53 AM

You remember the picture of the priory I posted? Pretty scary actually, one of my towns many Polish people was killed there a few days ago. Down at the river for which my town is named, a dead body was found after he fell in and another guy was strangled then hanged off a bridge before that. It's all going tits up here!
