Halloween 6

Got it off ebay, just arrived. I was just watching it for the first time in years when i started actually thinking about it. Sorry to bug you but these questions need to be answered for me.

- In the write ups and plot outlines, they say Michael is after his baby. At what point do they say it was his baby as well? And if his goal was to kill his family on the night of samhain, why would he make another one?

-Why did that doctor guy want an evil child? They never explain.

-Why did Michael kill all those people in smith groves?

-What was that green stuff oozing out of michaels face when tommy bashes it in.

-And just for the sake, a continuity error - Why at the end when you see the mask on the floor and hear loomis screaming (the low point of the film, lower than when they killed off laurie in HR) does the mask have none of that green stuff on it?

You're mising the point. Who cares about all the questions... Its a gay as hell sequal...

I hated that movie. Michael Myers banging his niece....

ferretchucker 03-04-2007 03:36 AM

I respect it though because it was pleasances last film and if he thought it was worth doing i think it's worth watching. But still, i'm not a fan of the storyline. It seemed to be over too quickly

Pleasance is a crappy actor in halloween anyway.
He's such a drama queen it drives me insane, its like... SHUT UP about fuckin Michael and get a hobby... He just freaks out about him year round. Don't worry about nuclear war or anything, just some ohh noo sexually active teens getting sliced.

ferretchucker 03-05-2007 12:51 PM

donald is great. I think him and jamie lee were the best thing that happened to halloween. I admit though, he does repeat himself alot. About five times he says. "I spent seven years trying to reach him and eight trying to make sure he never got out. For behind his dead, black eyes, there was only evil. Evil has come to your town."

Posher778 03-05-2007 12:54 PM

I can't stand him. Halloween was fine without him butting in and killing michael and blah blah blah.

Disease 03-05-2007 03:29 PM

LAME ASS FERRET< you just agree with everyone....

ferretchucker 03-12-2007 10:28 AM

you know, if you don't like me, why dont you spend your time doing useful things and not reading then replying negatively to my posts.

the_real_linda 03-12-2007 10:40 AM

i loved the overacting of donald....camp it up big time

ferretchucker 03-12-2007 12:33 PM

I just think loomis gave it another dimension. He was what made the films. If he wasn't in them they'd just be like f-13 with a different hero each time.

WHAT are you serious that is the whole point of halloween.

I dont know those are good questions though I think he died in that one. He was tring to kill the doctor and if anyone got in his way after he killed her then he went for his sister. I dont understand ressurected though that was gay though how she died.

ferretchucker 03-13-2007 07:57 AM

have any of you seen the producers cut? It was actually the first one that they were going to release but it got bad reviews on the test screening so they changed it in a week. In that pleasance survives and is marked with thron by doctor wyn. It's when he get's marked that he screams and it's meant to make it so that he has a closer link with michael or something. I think i maybe prefered that ending. None of that stupid tricking michael stuff.

Halloween 1978.. does it really live up to the hype?

I'm gonna see Halloween for the first time today..

I was wondering if it is really THAT good? Is it really worth the hype?

I didnt really love Excorcist or the Shining..didnt care much for Jason's movies either (except for part 3).

Do you think I'll love this one? Does it have a story behind it?

Halloween is amazing, if you're a true film fan.

But you don't like the Exorcist, The Shining or Jason so I guess we can rule that out. You'll probably like Rob Zombie's version better:mad:

Why did I picture your eyes turning red and a flaming background when I read that?

crabapple 07-06-2007 07:00 PM

Halloween was never really "hyped," actually. Its success grew from word of mouth, and it did the boxoffice it did mainly because it worked. It's a good, simple, scary movie, beautifully photographed.

Good movie. You should like. Horrors that really stand out to me are those with great directing, great acting, cool music, etc....like The Exorcist and The Shining.

Oh shit. You hated both of those? Wow. Those two, along with Halloween, are generally considered classics.

I wouldnt say I hated it but I didnt really love it. The shining was not scary at all it was more like a thriller. John's acting was great and the score fit really well but the movie was too slow for me. The excorsist was okay but the fact that I had heard about a lot of the scenes in the movie probably ruined the surprise and it's the kind of movie that you judge on what you felt the first time you saw it you know.

As for Halloween.. I'm about to watch it right now. I'll let you guys know what I thought when I'm done.

newb 07-06-2007 08:22 PM

This sounds like a case of "spoiled by special effects" syndrome.

I'm willing to bet this poster is in his early teens.

Not trying to generalize.....I'm aware we have some very hip teens here......just that the majority would probably think like this "scream" dude.......or dudet.

You really watched The Shining?

...

Then who's John in it?

novakru 07-06-2007 08:47 PM

John, Jack, Archibald...same difference:D

_____V_____ 07-06-2007 08:52 PM

I thought he was referring to John Carpenter, and kept thinking back if the dude had a special appearance in it.

Then scratched it and thought maybe John Wayne, but I couldnt remember the tall, lanky westerner in even one scene.

Maybe it was John McClane, but then the Torrances wouldnt have "died hard" would they?:p

:D

You knew what I meant.;)

Newb got it spot-on though. Newer generations need to watch the classics first and appreciate it more, rather than giving their thumbs ups to newer CGI-loaded dull stuff.

I don't think you'll LOVE it.

Halloween is famous for being the movie that started the whole Slasher genre. But since then, many Slasher movies has been made and many has topped it.

If you've already seen a lot of slashers i'm sure you'll find Halloween to be very ol' school.

joshaube 07-06-2007 11:52 PM

Funny... I thought Black Christmas was the movie that 'invented' the slasher genre. Oh well, another case of Americans taking credit for something Canadian. Bullies!

If you look around this forum, or poll the horror community in general... Halloween will come out near the top on nearly everyone's TOP 10 LISTS. I honestly don't think I've heard anything bad said about this film on these forums. Also, Mike Meyers tops most FAVOURITE HORROR ICON lists; and John Carpenter's work is rarely ever looked down upon.

Now, with those facts, think about it.

PS. If you don't like Halloween, it's best to just to pretend you do. It's easier that way. Trust me.

But I do prefer Black Christmas to Halloween.

(( OH, and will someone explain why they love Halloween so much? Someone who'd rate it on their top 10. It's never been described why everyone thinks it's so amazing. I personally think it's a fit-in sort of thing. ))

scream! 07-07-2007 12:30 AM

Ok I just got done watching it!

First I have to say Michael Myers' stalking (and the pov camera) were great.

The soundtrack I think just MAKES the movie. It is just really creepy.. I think it's probably the BEST score of any horror movie I have seen.

Now onto the movie. It builds lots of suspense and keeps you on your toes throughout the whole movie.

It's also probably the film that started it all and most people on this forum probably watched it as kids so it has a special place in their hearts and I completely understand that.

The plot is fairly simple and effective but the movie (for a supposed top horror movie of all time) was still lacking something.

I would give the movie 7/10 but then again I have no taste I guess.:D

scream! 07-07-2007 12:55 AM

Da na na ni da da diiii da na na ni da da diii

Its still ringing in my ears:D

crabapple 07-07-2007 09:02 AM

You did good, Scream. You appreciated an older film and that's fantastic. Now, for a real treat, go back and watch a good handful of even older films, oh, maybe Frankenstein from 1931, King Kong from 1933, The Wolf Man from 1941, The Blob from 1958, Night of the Living Dead from 1968. Each one will give you a different kind of thrill.

Phalanx 07-07-2007 09:27 AM

Having "grown up" through the 80's, seeing this one as somewhat of a step out of what I was used to when I saw it at the age of about 14 in around '95.
At this age, it was hard to look past the "aging" factor but when I sat back and actually got into it, found it was pretty decent after all.
I didn't think it was the greatest film ever or anything, but it was a pretty solid, and atmospheric thriller/slasher, the formless face, the music, all worked well. It's not one of my favourites, but I think it's probably one of the films a person trying to dip into horror might definately want to observe at least once.

As for older than that titles to see, I always really liked the earlier version of "house of wax", maybe psycho if you haven't seen it....?

joshaube 07-07-2007 07:46 PM

Psycho was a great movie! Check it out.

crazy raplh 07-08-2007 04:13 PM

yes I know your point I think there should be some required films to watch before you can join the forum lol
