Maybe that's what bothered me about it...

First, that kind of animated aesthetic doesn't really appeal to me, but I can definitely see the point and the influence of something like Fritz the Cat. While it might not be something that I choose to see again, I can definitely see the underlying themes (that one in particular I thought was a pretty horrifying depiction of society; I was more disturbed by the violence than by the porn in it, which I thought made it a very smart film)... With El Superbeasto it's definitely out of context; I look at something like that and think, what's the point? I mean, I can understand wanting to make an homage to a genre that you appreciate, but I don't think that El Superbeasto was anything other than vulgar, repulsive, and pointless... And I don't even have particularly delicate sensibilities.

The problem with Halloween actually is that he couldn't balance the postmodern elements with the splatpunk ones and the source material. I didn't like Devil's Rejects as much as House because it's too damn cerebral and not nearly as intuitive.

I think you have a point... Honestly, I thought that House of 1000 Corpses was a perfect balance between postmodern horror and splatter. I thought that it was great splatterpunk with a fantastic crescendo and climax of gore. I thought it was absolute brilliant film making.

With the Halloween movies, I can see what he's trying to do, but ultimately I don't think that they work. Halloween wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't a remake. For me, personally, I adore the original movie and I don't think that it was necessary to give Michael Myers a motive or peer into his psyche. I like him as just a pure monster... If Zombie was creating a New Monster; a New Serial Killer, I think that the first movie would have been pretty good. It was a decent slasher, and for those who enjoy looking into the background and psyche of the killer, it's right up your alley.

As for the second film, it's not so much that I don't "get" what he was doing; I just didn't like it. I thought that the visions and symbolism were a bit silly, to tell you the truth. Even taking that one autonomous from its original, I wouldn't have enjoyed it... Which is odd; I thought that Zombie excelled with House of 1000 Corpses but failed with Halloween II. It's also a shame because I thought that the open 10 minutes or so of Halloween II in the hospital were bloody brilliant horror... I really wish that the movie had been straight up slasher just like that... But it's clearly not what he wanted to accomplish.

I own the Devil's rejects (2005), House of 1000 corpses (2003), Halloween (2007) I really liked all three of those movies, although I'd have to say that Halloween was the best one of those three, I have seen it atleast a hundred times before. I seen Halloween II (2009) and had not seen the original Halloween II (1981) although I should. I really liked some parts of Halloween II

for instance:

Pros:
1) The child who replaces that ugly kid from the original remake of Halloween (2007) who looks more like the original Michael Myers as a child from John Carpenter's Halloween (1978)

2) Laurie Strode's new attitude and the was she dresses through out the movie.

3) Michael Myers new brutal kills (in the original halloween movies michael myers always killed his victims with a lunge stab rather than throwing his weight into his stabs, throwing his weight into the stabs helped with more climatic killing scenes which made me enjoy this movie a whole lot more).

cons:
1) Dr. Samuel Loomis's behaviour throughout the movie, he's now a snarky best selling author.

2) Laurie Strode's reaction to finding out that she is Michael Myers's surviving baby sister, Angel Myers.

3) Michael Myers walking around the state without a mask and a giant scruffy rat's nest for a beard, gross.

That is all. ^^;

Tough choice, I'm going to have to say the Unrated Remake of Halloween. I wasn't a fan of the second one, I thought the whole story line got effed up. The reason I picked this film is the way Zombie portrayed Michael, Had a great huge guy play him, that to me is what made this film is how big he was, just plain old creepy. Second choice would have to be The Devils Rejects, I love the character Otis.

"Yeah, the whole story/plot in Halloween II (2009) was pretty ****ed up, but the kills Michael did in this movie made it completely worth it. I really liked the Devil's Rejects, too. Otis was better in this movie I find, then he was in House of 1000 Corpses. Tyler Mane (Michael Myers) was also in the Devil's Rejects. He was just one of the gunmen in the house when the police started shooting.

His movies keep getting progressively worse IMO. Halloween 2 was garbage.

The Devil's Reject is one my choice.Its more coherent than House Of A 1,000 Corpses,more savage than Halloween the remake,more original than Halloween Part 2.I felt the acting was superb here,intense and disturbing performances by Sid Haig and Bill Moseley,and the sizzling eye candy being Sherri Moon Zombie.Zombie's direction was first rate here,the writing was decent,and the very much liked the ending.:):cool:

Not yet..I think that is the only Rob Zombie movie I currently do not own...

Got:
1) House of 1000 Corpses 2003
2) The Devil's Rejects 2005
3) Rob Zombie's Halloween 2007
4) Rob Zombie's Halloween II 2009

I really don't know if there are any other movies he's produced thus far. n_n;

I generally hate remakes with a passion but his remake of Halloween was really great! Overall though I would say House of 1000 Corpses is his best movie to date.
