The thing is, if she is forgetting she wouldn't know which would mean she is in no pain, the only thing is you don't want her to forget who the people around her are. But I'm sure that wouldn't happen. She might just seem like a zombie from now on, not sure if your a fan of zombies, but hell, a zombie dog sounds better than no dog.. ;)

Yeah, she isn't that bad, she still remembers us. So that's all that matters. And I agree with you. Thanks everyone! Wish me the best!

Best of luck.

Fingers crossed it turns out well.

Hi, Dante - Just catching up. I hope that everything works out. That's really tough. Good luck and take care.

Update!

My Grandma has decided NOT to put her down! :D

She said, since she's doing better there is not reason to put her down. I'm so excited! :D

I'm so glad she can stay here with us.

Well that's good to hear, but if it gets any worse you know what will happen, so just mentally prepare yourself for that. Don't forget Goldie is 98 years old.

That's great news Dante! Yaaaay!

I agree with Leprucky. Don't think about it so much that you bum yourself out, just be aware of it so when it does eventually happen it's not such a total shock. Give Goldie some extra attention and TLC and enjoy your time together. It could be years from now, but it might not be. My last dog lived to be 17 and he was pretty active until about the last 6 months of his life. When he started reeeeeeally slowing down and stuff, I started mentrally preparing myself. It still hurts like hell, but it is a bit easier when you have some time to prepare yourself.

Now go give Goldie a big hug and tell her what a good and pretty girl she is. :)
