I would have to say Wall E. Even tho there wasn't much dialogue it just drew me in more.

The_Return 01-01-2009 05:45 AM

Dark Knight, no question about it - WALL-E being the runner up for the time being.

In Bruges really surprised me and would have to have a spot on the list as well...and Benjamin Button goes without saying.

But there are still a ton of great looking 2008 movies that I haven't been able to catch: The Wrestler, Frost/Nixon, Slumdog Millionaire, Let The Right One In, The Reader, Revolutionary Road, ect. - I'll get back to you once these ones get a wide release.

Worst Movie of the Year - Repo: The Genetic Opera

I forgot about The Fall. That would definitely be on my list.

I REALLY want to see Trick r Treat. Netflix needs to get it.

I thought Quarantine was awful but that is just my opinion.

To me the best movie of 2008 obviously was The Dark Knight. I haven't seen a lot of films that I wanted to see this year but a close second for me was Wall-E as well.

i mean i love horror films but to be totally honest, there are relatively few that i really think are among the BEST films of the year. (now in fairness i haven't seen LET THE RIGHT ONE IN and have read great reviews so that could actually be one of those rare films).

i guess i'm just asking if there is a difference for most people between their favorite film and what they think is the BEST film?

One of my favorites, AND one of the best. Inventive, and one of a kind. No one has ever seen anything like it before. It delivered. Deny it.

for me - i'm leaning to YES.

a personal best film. It evoked memories in me forgotten since i was a kid. i loved everything about this film.

what determines 'best' ?

- ticket sales - because tons of sheep saw it ?

- oscar wins ? because a group of people we couldnt even begin to identify with for the most part - voted it to be the best ?

best is a personal thing ... best is your own criteria - satisfied the best way it could be.

Cloverfield hit me in every Best Button i have.

i know you were speaking in general - but i decided to address that one directly.
