All modern day horror movies, especially the remakes. Stupid ignorant teens. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is overrated as well.

WTF?? I agree only on some remakes ... I have watched tons of horror and all those series of movies are awesome.. and I completely disagree about the original TCM being overrated.. it is a great film so people love to say it is..

One question. How far does "Modern Day" go back?

cheebacheeba 01-17-2004 06:11 PM

Good question Avenger, I really dont consider the original TCM to be modern, I mean its a classic right up there with the original black and white horror films. The early slasher films like Friday the 13th and Halloween arent really modern anymore either. I think that since the start of the use of CGI in horror is the break off point. Give me the old school water coloring and tedious make-up effects over CGI anyday. Some of the movies we have been calling modern are going back over 25 years so I think it could go by generation maybe?

avenger00soul 01-17-2004 06:19 PM

So what about the 90's then? Cuz some damn good gems slipped in during the 90's. Candyman, Nightbreed, Lord of Illusions, In the Mouth of Madness and so on.

meetthecreeper 01-17-2004 06:33 PM

I am not knocking the 90s by any means some good horror came out then but I think since Scream spawned all these-I Know Your Final Destination You Were Screaming About Last Summer-it took a horrible turn. Hopefully we are in a recovery stage, at least the films that are coming out are paying homage to earlier films, House of 1000 corpses, TCM, Cabin Fever I even like Wrong Turn, thought it was well put together. It just seems like ideas for horror films are running out.
