I was telling the wife the other day that with the immense recent popularity of pirates, it's probly not a good idea to show those public service announcements that declare that downloading movies is "pirating."

on that note, I own hundreds of dvds, all of which were bought and paid for with my manual-labor workmoney.

From Wikipedia - and the superb South Park episode 'Christian Rock Hard':-

"Stan, Kyle, and Kenny, seeking 'inspiration', decide to download music from the Internet (because CDs are too expensive) and they are charged by the FBI for illegal downloading. An FBI agent shows them how serious the consequences of downloading can be. In a scene reminiscent of A Christmas Carol, musicians like Lars Ulrich (drummer of metal band Metallica) and Britney Spears are so affected by loss of income from music piracy that they must substitute extremely luxurious purchases for slightly less luxurious ones (Lars wants to have a gold-plated shark tank bar installed next to his pool, but must now wait a few weeks, and Britney is not able to keep a Gulfstream IV, so she replaces it with a smaller Gulfstream III, which doesn't have a remote control for its surround sound DVD system)"

If you are still not convinced that the South Park team always manage to hit the nail right on the head, then that this episode also features the outburst "Oh fuck Jesus!" should sway it for you one way or another.

id never sell anything i download and i try and buy as much as i can that i have... and as far as tv shows goes, British tv is immensely boring compared to the shows the us produce. we have some good comedy shows and that is it. I dont buy copy dvd's.

great episode, and I agree that South Park could very well be the most clever show on television.

Since the topic is up and about... How do you compare those bloodsucking freaks at video stores that rent out movies at ridiculous prices for years after they are released...?

They are the only ones making anything out of it!

I wouldn't exactly call pushing their liberal beliefs "clever".

Now now, just because some people don't find the same things as you do funny doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor. Some people just don't like their humor with a large (heaven forbid I say liberal ;) )dose of politics. Sooooo, are there any political undertones in 30 Days?

PR3SSUR3 11-21-2007 06:19 AM

I would consider Parker and Stone's attitudes via South Park to be more displays of straightforward common sense (usually in the face of a recent public outrage) than 'pushing their liberal beliefs'.

This is despite the customary 'message' near the end of each episode, which merely puts things into perspective after 20 minutes of dealing with the hilarious extremities of hypocritical moralists, bonkers celebrities or degenerative politics.
