Haha.

Back in 93 there was an E. coli outbreak at Jack in the Box and a bunch of kids who ate there died.

oh? 93? So recent...I doubt they've had time to fix things since then. Hoo boy, must've been a nation-wide thing, too. Thanks for the warning, I'll just be going back to the runny meat patties of McDonalds, then...

Actually, it was Pacific Northwest wide, since that's about where all the Jack in the Boxes were at the time. Their beef was carrying E. coli, not just one Jack in the Box's beef, all their beef. Not only did a bunch of kids die, but hundreds of people were hospitalized. Keep on eating there Sam. You won't find me in no goddamn Jack in the Box...regardless if they've had time to fix the problem.

so you're going to avoid a nation-wide chain just because the ones in one region of the US had diseased meat 11 years ago? That's like avoiding anything with red dye because of the Red Dye #2 thing a while ago.

First of all, I wouldn't call Jack in the Box a nation-wide chain. They're only located in 16 states. It's not like they're Burger King or anything. And yes, I will never eat at a Jack in the Box. I'm amazed they are still around after that incident. Must've had a hell of a PR person.

Sam The Egg 01-17-2004 09:41 AM

or maybe they fixed the problem, and the FDA or whoever realized that they had fixed the problem. Or maybe it wasn't even their fault. Did it ever say HOW the meat got infected?

avenger00soul 01-17-2004 10:17 AM

Why are we arguing about this again? Do you work at Jack in the Box?

Yes, they fixed the problem b/c they were forced to use a “farm to fork” system that overlooks all processes of their incoming meats. Then again, they were suspected in the nation’s first mad cow disease case. That was just a few months ago btw. I’m not going to eat there, quit trying to make me.

Sam The Egg 01-17-2004 10:46 AM

I'm not trying to make you, I don't give a shit where you eat. If you had said "I don't like Jack N The Box, I won't eat there" I would've let it go. But basing it on something that happened in part of the country 11 years ago is stupid. And they were suspected in the Mad Cow thing. Big deal. Did they say "It's Jack N the Box's fault!"? Did they link them to it?

avenger00soul 01-17-2004 11:00 AM

For the last time, Jack in the Box is only in PART of the country. It didn't just happen at one Jack in the Box.

Ok, let's say you come across a convicted child murderer, but he's been a good boy for 11 years. Would you trust him to babysit your kids? I don't trust Jack in the Box enough to ever eat there, regardless of how much time has past. The Mad Cow suspicion confirms that I will never again eat there. And, yes, that fact that their food sucks will keep me out of their restaurants too.

No matter what remark you come back with, it's not changing my mind. You think the reasons are stupid, I don't. Likewise, I'm not convincing you. Neither of us are going to change their mind on this one.

okay since you guyz are talking about fast food chains and everything.. I was wondering if anyone on here has heard of Winn Dixie..?? it is a grocery food chain.. Reason I ask is because when I was in basic training I didnt meet anyone from the south and everyone I talked to had not heard of Winn Dixie... it is huge down here.. their tagline "The Beef People"
