JAWS, that horrible shark monster...he was the bees' knees of toothy critterness. When Jaws was released in 1968, people made lines around the block to wait and go see 'em. Jaws made record popcorn sales and some people got popcorn indigestion as a result. Audiences requested that Jaws sound be turned down because noise of Shark Monster was too frightening--also requested that brightness of projection bulb be de-illuminated because of shark image clarification too brightening. Film was never projected at maximum brightness, nor soundtrack played at maximum decibel level, till nearly 40 year of films original release. Is true story.
