one of the reasons I didn't like Jason X is the same reason I don't like most movies: I felt like the money spent on it could have gone to a better film. I love cheese. I own numerous terrible movies, which I love. however, most of those movies were terrible because they (almost) didn't have a choice. granted, some fantastic flicks have been made with little, or no, money (Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, etc.), but I always wonder what some movies (or certain filmmakers) could have done with a bigger budget.

I know this is kinda like arguing about what Elvis or Jimi Hendrix would be doing if they were still alive (as in, it's completely pointless), but to me it's a valid reason for disliking a movie.

I don't know, sometimes I think more money can ruin a film. Sometimes having to be creative because you lack money prevents lame, overpriced CGI and overpaid, overexposed actors.

But thinking on the other side of the coin, the people who made Jason X didnt have much to go on for, after Jason goes to Hell. Hence the setting of the future, space etc, desperately hoping to wrap the terror of Jason into an Alien-esque type atmosphere. The movie wasnt bad at all, considering from that point of view. I dont see why people keep bashing it up.

You will agree with me that continuity of a franchise is a tough job to keep up with. Especially after 8 sequels have been made before. We wont have a brilliant F13 sequel or FvJ anymore, but maybe some good watchable ones. For that matter, no sequel to a popular cult classic can be deemed to be excellent, except perhaps Aliens. But that had the Cameron touch, hence it can be regarded as the only exception.

I think that was the point of what I posted, or at least I meant it to be (whether it came across that way or not). the F13 franchise was something, at that point, that was a problem (the problem being that the people who made the movies knew there was more money to be bled from the series, but didn't quite know how to go about doing it) that the producers felt they could throw money at to fix it.

I actually like all the other ones. Yeah sure, I know it's the same crap over and over. I watch them because I just really want to see Jason kill everyone, all the kids in the movies are dumb and painfully death-worthy. I don't mind that much that he does it the same way every time.

Also there is usually one person in every one of the movies that reminds me of someone I hate.

on the other hand the effects really sucked, could use a remake with good gore.

Oh, when you said that you knew people who could make a better movie with all that money I thought you meant something else.

i actually liked jason x, it brought something original to the table and nice amount of killing, finally at least a plot with some twist, not just the same " kids come to camp, kids f*ck, kids get drunk, kids dead" i really think its much better then part 2,5,7,8,9

you either love or hate this movie.. but as a fanatic of the friday the 13th series i love it.. i mean they took the slasher movie to a whole new level.. hes even unstoppable in space!!

hit it on the head....money detracts (sometimes) away from the rawness and raw talent of the people who make it....its the same for music as far as im concerned....overproduced sounds too smooth...
