I'd rather have a movie ruined and an unknown girl momentarily insulted than make my child fatherless.

Yeah - here in New York you might get your ass shot - even if its like some 12 year old punk - he and his buddies might pull out a 9 mm and kill everyone in the stinking theater. Ahhh, what happened to the days when you could intimidate some little bastard with size and aggression alone and not have to fear an armed response.

Are you bigger than 9mm?

EXTR3MIST 08-02-2005 08:25 AM

Yes.

I went and saw 28 Days Later with a couple friends the night it came out. About ten minutes into the film this group of about 10 to 12 African American girls are screaming at shit that isn't scary. And I don't mean like, not scary to me. I mean nothing is happening. Someone is running, or a door gets opened. And they would scream really long and loud, for about 30 seconds... and its starting to annoy the shit outta me. So it gets to that part where it reads "28 Days Later" across the screen and they start saying... sorry, screaming it out loud. So I just shout, "Shut the fuck up", and in unison they go "YOU shut the fuck up". The entire theatre goes off on em', I think I heard one guy yell "Go back to your cave". But it made me feel good that theatre patrons would verbally rip some kids apart like that. Go America!

Guess I dont see it that way. Where is this going? The point I'm trying to make is that there isnt a single human being who has the right to intimidate anyone else based on size, race, or how big or small they're packing. If my destiny involves going down because of a 9mil, so be it. I'll take it like a man and go out fighting. I'm not afraid to die. And I damn sure wouldnt do it cowardly. I live my life so that there are no regrets. And if my last act on this planet involves saying "Fuck You" up a barrel, I can deal with it.

how would your kid deal with it ?

Urge, where is it written than all humanity is lost once you become a parent? It's not. It multiplies. In abundance for some people. She would take it hard. And she would blame me for it. And I would hate for something like that to happen. But I refuse to put away compassion and humanity. It may be stupid. But that's how I am. I cant, or wont change that.

i think you missed the part where i said 'pick your battles' (wisely)
i wont die for a dog or an insult ... i think my humanity is intact.

humanity isnt lost when you become a parent - obviously.
but you are expected to become a better thinker...

your compassion should start with your children.
If someones life was at risk ..i'd try to do something if there was a chance that i could make a difference ...

but other than that - i have other people who need me to be around..

when i went to see Darkness (sucked) i was the only one in there besides one or two adults, I was enjoying the movie then all of a sudden this family with 3 kids around the ages of 2,5 and 4 come in. at first they were ok sittinbg behind me and did not make a sound then the one wanted candy, the other was crying and the final one was screaming its fucking brains out...I kindly asked them to try to quiet down their kids cause it is ruining the moive for everyone else. The mother just curled her lib at me.. I stayed there for another 5 mins before i walked of their. That was the only time i ever walked out of the movies cause of assholes like that

You dont think those firefighters on 9/11 had family. They put their lives at risk for complete strangers, and I dont believe they did it just because it's their job.
That's kind of different than what you're talking about though. There's a difference between people who risk their lives to save others and people who "bravely" go down fighting after someone pulls a gun on them.

What you're talking about just seems to be blind fearlessness.

Yeah, you're right. Its mostly by instinct. I swear. And its unsettling with the family. But what can I do. I'm just fed up with hatred, volunary stupidity, wars, all the bullshit. Its rediculous. With all that's going on around the world, I cant sit back and watch my neighbors destroy each other. It's enough to drive a guy insane. LOL.

so you become what you hate ?

specific to what started the discussion : you physically grabbed someone who was being verbally offensive ...
