Congrats on the 3 months paid vacation, Vod.

Here's my boiling point reached this week: I'm in the middle of a move from the DC suburbs to a nicer area a few hours south. This move requires that I sell the place I'm living in, buy something new, and rent temporary housing in the meantime. That's a hefty chunk of change to lose in the short term (about an additional $800/month), especially when my new job will pay substantially less, but I figure it's worth it.

Except now my A/C died in the middle of this miserable 100-degree heatwave, and I've been without A/C for the past two weeks. The entire heat pump had to be replaced. $5,000.

Then last weekend, the brake system on my jeep died. $1,200. My warranty is supposed to cover things like this but--psyche!--not this time. Maybe. I don't know. I have to badger people with letters now.

In preparation for the move, my wife quit her job and went fulltime freelance. For her final paycheck, for a week's worth of work, her employer paid her just $9, citing a previously unknown policy regarding the taking of leave before it was earned.

And then two weeks ago a good friend of my family's slit his fucking wrists, killing himself a week before his son's graduation from high school.

And then my cat needed dental surgery. $400.

And then my internet developed a major problem this weekend. Unknown cost as of yet.

And then my publisher said that my book will probably be delayed because his a/c died and he doesn't have the money to pay the printer.

And then I had an allergy attack today, and yesterday my blood pressure tested as "pre-hypertensive," and then, and then, and then . . .

It does put things into pespective. ;) But don't feel bad about feeling bad--I've been equally pissed-off about work things, and it ain't no picnic. Glad your problems are working out. :)

Worked out but good. I never have to put up with even the tiniest fragment of bullshit from this place again :D
