A Gwailo, for the uninitiated, is the Chinese term for a white foreigner, literally translating as "ghost man" or "white ghost", thereby giving Daniel O'Brien's guide the sense of being both by and for the white outsider to Hong Kong Chinese culture.

how about GiaWalo def: an italian/japanese slasher/ghost film where white people are slaughtered in inventive and sadistic ways??

The commentary is legendarily mental and must be heard.

The ending of the film is of course contrived and nonsensical, but is generally excused for being Japanese.

The disturbing "snuff" footage at the beginning still looks very impressive nearly 20 years on.
