Cabin Fever was a rip-off of Evil Dead, it tried to be a classic too hard, and failed.

I liked cabin fever. I don't think it was trying to be like any movie. the pancake kid was hilarious. I was the only person laughing in the theatre.

Wu and Return/Vamp go rent Slumber Party Massacre. Without giving anything away, I think it's what you guys are looking for. :)

As for Cabin Fever... I didn't like it much the first time I saw it, in the theatre, but the second time when I rented it and watched it with my fiance, I think I liked it better. In my eyes it went from a D grade movie to a C or maybe even a C+ when I rewatched it.

I really liked Wrong Turn. A fairly formulatic plot, but the movie was just tense as hell and highly entertaining. That scene where the inbreds are butchering their friend in the cabin and they are all hiding in there watching it was sweet!

I thought Jeepers Creepers was awesome too! I loved the ending. The sequel, however, was typical Hollywood. A bunch of good looking teens get lost in the middle of nowhere, take off clothes, get killed one by one, blah, blah, blah The End. It had the head regeneration which was cool, but overall I wasn't thrilled with the JC2.

I thought Saw started out pretty good but once the blond guy started trying to act desperate, it got really stupid. Whoever that guy is should start looking for a new profession because he sucked ass! The ending was unneccesarily twisty and didn't seem to fill all of the holes. All in all, I was disappointed because I went in with such high hopes for this one.

Boogeyman really did suck. There's a blurb on the cover that says, "The scariest horror movie I've ever seen!" - some idiot critic. Kind of makes you wonder exactly how many horror movies this person has seen...

Anyway, I agree with the thread starter that the use of CGI in movies (horror or otherwise) has gotten way too pervasive. If I wanted to see CGI, I'd play a video game. I hate it.

I agree but the thing about american psycho was even that was diluted down from how it was set out in the book.
The main problem with the horror genre is that the makers of these films know that horror fans are the most loyal. There seems to be an attitude that all they need is knife wielding maniac/spleen sucking monster, blood splashes and a tit shot and fans will go see these films in the desperate hope of seeing something original or different. Every now and again a film stands out eg Dog Soldiers or Saw, unfortunately we do have to wade thru some shit to find the good ones
