I haven't been here in awhile so I'll say i'm unaffected, although I'm unsure if I am or not or even if I would care about what shit goes on in the first place :D

Why do you hate Christmas? Seriously?

You have a child don't you? Doesn't that make it a little more exciting\fun\worthwhile for you?

I love it. I really do.

I get all corny and festy... I mean festive. I look at it as a time to spoil yourself, see your friends and family at heaps of get togethers, good beach weather (here in Aust. anyway), good food to be had on and around christmas day etc etc.

Does anyone else feel the same, or am I alone on this one?

true .. anything concerning my kid i enjoy ...
but as far as the rest of my gamily goes ...
well, thats probably why I havent enjoyed xmas up to now.

Thats what determines it ... the 'quality' of your family ..

My immediate family (wife and child) .. we'll have fun .. but i really detest most everything else to do with xmas ..

this is very cliche - but the commercialization of it is gut wrenching.

OK, I get where you are coming from.

And I totally agree with what you wrote about the commercialization of Christmas. That part is pretty bad. But if you keep it about the simple pleasures in life eg good food, good company, good times - I think you can't go wrong.

:)

If you go to the 99 Cents Store, you may find a rack of cheap 99-cent DVDs, and among them, the beloved "Santa and the 3 Bears," an unpretentious low-budget animated Christmas show from 1970 or thereabouts. Recommended!

I mean, you're buying into the commercialization, but for 99 cents, you're not buying into it very much.
