I have a hard time with using Best and Slasher Flick in the same sentence ..

Dont get me wrong, I like them .. but they are the 'junk food' of the horror genre ... something to get you by until you can afford a nice big steak...

I've seen so many of the damn things that i cant remember who or what killed where and why anymore.

The last one I saw was Freddy Vs Jason and it made me laugh so I'll say that one.

'that goalie is pissed man !' i love that line :)

Ahh no, let me change that ... I'll be unimaginative and go with the greatest classic : Halloween.

It was a great horror film .. period .. slasher or not.

I respectfully disagree with your analogy that "slasher films" are the "junk food" of the horror genre. I contend that today's unimaginative re-makes, laden with CGI graphics, and copycat effects are cheapening the "Horror" in horror films. The studios are producing flashy movie previews, with no real substance, ("movie") to back it up. All of this of course is intended to get you back into the theatre or rental store for that almighty dollar.

well, i cant help but compare films within the genre and there are a lot of far more clever and atmospheric horror films out there that consist of more than just a bunch of fornicating teenagers being dispatched in sometimes entertaining ways ...

There's certainly a time and a place for these films but they are definately on the low end of the scale compared to the heavier more imaginative horror films out there ...

but still .. i do like them ....
