The Prestige (2006)

Brilliant. I preferred this to The Illusionist. I'm quite fond of Christopher Nolan, I've decided.

The closing line is brilliant! And the way it just cuts off.

bloodrayne 04-15-2007 03:32 AM

Zombie Night and Zombie Planet...Not bad for 'B' movies, but I liked Zombie Night better...Zombie Planet had a bit too much drama and not enough zombies in it...

Prey 04-15-2007 03:44 AM

Killing Me Softly.

Haven't seen the Illusionist as yet...but I'd agree on the rest of the statement.

Hmmm....no movies for me yet.

I have a film called "primer" here, and another called "Jacobs Ladder".

I watched about 15 minutes of the latter the other day before going out, and I have to say, this looks like an excellent film....very good atmosphere (referring to the train station scene) and some strange visuals. I have a feeling this is going to be pretty good.

Geddy 04-15-2007 04:09 AM

Around half of the transporter.

slayer666 04-15-2007 06:10 AM

Dark Remains.

Don't waste your time. Had a few good creepy scenes but fell flat overall.

horror_fanatic_666 04-15-2007 07:08 AM

In theaters, it was Preminition. Not too much of a horror movie, but it was good.

And yesterday I watched Carrie (1976) at home cause my friend has Netflix, and is also a horror fan like me. :] OH and also watched The Shining (1980) and Pet Semetary (1989)

Amalthea_unicorn 04-15-2007 07:20 AM

Signs 8/10

SamCostello 04-15-2007 08:43 AM

I saw The Messengers the other day. It was only $2, which is about what it was worth. It had a few scary parts, but totally missed the point of the Asian horror films that it was so clearly derived from (that the horror you get drawn into frequently has nothing to do with you, that the initial revenge that spawns the horror is long over, etc).

Chaos, by Hideo Nakata, was much better. A twisty crime thriller.

Also saw the 1981 crime movie Body Heat last night. William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Lawrence Kasdan writing and directing. If you like crime movies, this is a great one.

Ditto. Jacob's Ladder is superbly, and very darkly, atmospheric. You'll love it, Phalanx. It only gets better as it goes along...it sucks you into its perverse twists.

Whenever people talk about the most effective Vietnam movies, I always bring this up. Of course, outside of this forum, no one knows what I'm talking about.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 04-15-2007 10:09 AM

Jacob's Ladder is my favorite movie :)

crabapple 04-15-2007 10:09 AM

some Thunderbirds TV episodes
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (always good)
shortly to watch Napoleon Dynamite

cactus 04-15-2007 10:10 AM

The Crow (1994)

Event Horizon (1997)

X¤MurderDoll¤X 04-15-2007 10:30 AM

Virus (1980)

Hated it at first but I thought it was pretty good after the first 10-15 minutes or so.

The Mothman 04-15-2007 12:07 PM

Wild Hogs

Menace II Society

Are you kidding me? Cube is one of the few good 90's + horrors out there.

chaibill 04-15-2007 12:41 PM

well i just watched it today 4 15 2007 for the first time
i don't think it aged well. is the cube zero better? i remember watching event horizon and thinking it blew me away but today i think i would feel differently.
even one of the screams not sure witch one( i guess the first one is still good) i thought was a smart movie then watching it now i thought it was funny.

Seeing as 0% of the movies you mentioned are more than 16 years old...

chaibill 04-15-2007 01:02 PM

i think it may have been the age i was at the time. If i was sixteen and watched event horizion it impressed me but at 27 the cube did not see what i mean. And at 27 PSYCHO still impresses me. Its still watchable but if you watch something that just seems like so many other movies you dont wat to see more of it and you kind of pick it apart as you see it. i did want to be surprized by CUBE but it just wasn't there.

Posher778 04-15-2007 01:13 PM

Wait, so Cube has been done many times? And slashers like Psycho haven't? ........ wtf?

chaibill 04-15-2007 01:23 PM

not saying slashers are original saying the charactors and the way the film moved in cube is just typical . but maybe this movie inspired the film SAW
there are a lot of movies where a group of people and in a puzzle type situation and have to work together to get out and there are ussaully the same type of chararters in them check my CUBE thread
