They tried their best to emulate a story which is basically a cross between The Omen and Children of the Damned. It all ended up being a suspense-thriller with killer kids on the rampage. The children did their part but the problem lay with all the adult actors - just not there at all. It could have been a nice little cult classic today, but it's best being under the stockpile of 80s films.

THE CHILDREN. 1980

The children of Ravensback are mutated by leaking gas from a nearby nuclear plant. They kill their parents and other adults by placing their hands on them and turning them into crispy critters. Yikes!

I liked it.

MONSTER IN THE CLOSET. 1986

A clever parody on horror films. The actors never pushed the jokes, like some do, almost winking at the camera and the cliches were never overdone.

A monster is terrorizing, well, almost all of the United States. It hides in closets and appears to be indestructible. A Clarke Kent-like reporter, a priest, his niece and her son try to destroy him with the help of an Einstein doppelganger.

The films stars Claude Akins, Howard Duff, Stella Stevens, Henry Gibson and a very young Paul Walker.

Delightful.

Never heard about that one before. Thanks!

"Monster In the Closet" 6/10

If i didn't know any better i would never have guessed this was a Troma creation. Sure it was cheesy, but it was well made and starring good actors.

Funny to see Paul Walker this young and in this kind of movie. Even more surprising was the appearance of Fergie in the intro. FERGIE??!!! Didn't knew she was an actor before Black Eyed Peas.

I didn't want to mention Troma thinking it might put some people off. I've been checking out a few of their movies and enjoying them.

FRIGHTMARE 1983

A well-known horror actor (with a bit of a Christopher Lee vibe) passes away and his body is stolen from his crypt by a group of enthusiastic fans. They spend the night in a strange mansion where he made a lot of films, and somehow he is resurrected!

Its very grainy, dark and "foggy" in the house, so its hard to see a lot of what's going on, but basically the fans are killed off.

Different but not horrible.

^I am a big fan of Pete Walker films - not just his horror stuff either.
