Man, did this franchise hit the shitter in a hurry. The original was good, the sequel was bad and this third installment was downright awful! The plot was illogical, the script was bad, the acting sucked and there wasn't any gore. Talk about a stinker! But I guess I should have expected that since even Craig T. Nelson (Coach) wanted nothing to do with it. Don't waste your time on this one (or Poltergeist 2 for that matter.)

D-

I liked Poltergeist 2! The 3rd was just... WTF?

No Blade of Grass (1970) 7.5/10
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...970_15110n.jpg

End-of-the-world global famine movie from England. It drags in the middle, but the opening and fianle are great. A true lost classic, this one isn't available on DVD or VHS - but I had someone burn me a DVD from a film library.

It pre-dated and was a huge influence on Soylent Green and the second half of the film is pure Road Warrior.

WeaponX 03-23-2007 03:11 PM

Saw 3

Much better then the second and a surprisngly good movie. The acting was far less painful then the prequels and it just seemed stronger then Saw 2. Also it helped answer a lot of questions that made Saw a lot more believable.

Aliens

12/10

Wow... Just holy freaking cow why didn't I pay this much attention last time.

This one is literally... .00000000001 away from beating Alien... It... might end up beating it actually....

Check the new sig.

Beyond ReAnimator

some good scenes, (milk drinking zombie was awesome) some scenes so stupid i wanted to turn it off. bad acting except from Jeffrey Combs.

Freakshow

Fucking stupid. Total and complete ripoff of Tod Browning's freaks. One scene was almost stolen word for word.

yes an Asylum Pictures straight to DVD "banned in 43 countries" movie. its pretty fucked up, so i can undestand why it was banned..but it sucked.

The Last Waltz (1978) again. I watched it yesterday, too. Coolest concert documentary film ever, enhanced immensely by Scorsese's brilliant direction.

Gimme Shelter (1970) - saw it on Sundance again last night. Powerful stuff, must see if your a Stones fan.

Dark Fields. Do yourself a favor, just smack yourself in the middle of the forehead with a mallet. You'll thank me. Only made it through 25 mins. The single worst acted, most inane, not even funny/bad piece of garbage ever. 1/10

Pulse-Japanese Version - I liked it and got all of the subtext, but very weak ending. Not to mention they do the traditional "we figured it out, here's what's happening" thing, but it's not what's happening. A few creepy moments and one of the best ghost sequences ever (lady in the black dress with the couch). The Hiroshima/Nagasaki undercurrent was interesting, as well.
7/10

Burkittsville 7 - I had never seen this one before and I gotta say, I thought it was brilliantly done. I actually had to remind myself it was all crap while I was watching it. For a companion piece/come on for Blair Witch, I thought it was better than the movie (which I, unpopularly usually, actually liked).
9/10

300 - Just left the theater an hour ago or so. Pretty fun movie. Kinda dodgy in a few places, and a lot of shouting, but it brought the ultra-violence in the way you want.

Midnight Cowboy (1969)

Everytime I see it I fall in love with it all over again. A truly beautiful, brutally realistic, amazingly compassionate film.

And, might I add, it was casted perfectly. Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight are impeccable.

Complex and well directed. nice and strange. GJ Cronenberg. good Ralh Fiennes performance too.

a scene from striptease. demi moore is stupid, but her juggs make up for it.

the road warriors, one of my fave mel gib flicks.

missmacabre 03-25-2007 05:37 PM

Last night I had real bad movie ADD.
I watched Blow, which I enjoyed but I got bored after about half of it.
Then Heavy Metal but was told I was weird for watching "cartoon porn".
Then the end of a bad ripoff of Alien called "Creature".

AsylumSeeker 03-25-2007 08:00 PM

I've finally been getting around to catching up on the MoH series.

Cigarette Burns - I absolutely loved this. The idea of the holy grail of horror films is just cool as all get out. Course, I loved The Ninth Gate for the same reason. Maybe not the greatest movie ever, but the story got me.

Dreams in the Witch House - Lovecraft must be spinning in his grave faster than a pig on a rotisierrie being cranked by BoBo the Crackhead. I've seen things scarier (and more realistic) on the Muppets.

Million Dollar Baby.
First viewing. Pretty well done...in fact, I preferred the boxing action to the recent Rocky film. Great musical score, very solid acting all 'round...'cept maybe for the hick guy, he seemed a bit overdone. Kinda hard to watch during some scenes at the end...Hillary Swank really did well in this one I thought, I don't usually consider her to be noteworthy whatsoever...A good watch
