REC 3: Finally watched it... sadly not what I hoped it would be. Loved the first movie, thought the second was a quality sequel but this one just didnt work for me at all. It drags it heels considering the short run time, also doesnt really add any value to the plot line that was developed in the first two movies. It manages to totally remove any of the intensity or atmosphere that were the heart of the first movie and still there in second movie. The action seems forced and awkward, it tries to crowbar in a bit of slapstick but even that fails pretty miserably. Remove it from the franchise and its pretty poor, but if you compare it to the first two movies its fuckin' awful.

The Expendables 2: Wanted to see more of Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li but there is more than enough going on to make it an easy watch.

Hostel Dissected.

Love Roth's DVD and BluRay releases with all the commentaries and featurettes and stuff. Wish he still made horror movies.

Skyfall (2012)

**SPOILER ALAERT**

Surprisingly this anticipated Bond movie got a theatrical release here (just after a week of the US release) at our only multiplex theater in the city. Anyway, I understand it was an effort to making some sort of a 'transitional' film to go back to the traditional bond flavor but I was kinda disappointed. I really loved the way the series took a sensitive & believable approach from Daniel Craig's debut Bond feature Casino Royale (2006) & its highly action packed follow up Quantum of Solace (2008). Though director Sam Mendes did a good job with a story that's dealing with an interesting treatment like re-introducing some classic bond features but along the way it just came with an unoriginal antagonist character...an ex-MI6 agent (reminded me Sean Bean as 006 in Golden Eye). Obviously, Javier Bardem was a great cast but it was a missed opportunity, IMO. He was menacing as Raoul Silva but I just found the identity/background & motivation of his character pretty cliched & less interesting than earlier Craig-Bond films. The 2nd disappointment was the ending, particularly the final showdown between Bond & Silva. I'm not complaining about the premise (loved the location) or the killing of Judi Dench (surely I'll miss her in future 007 flicks but the "M" got a great replacement) but quite surprised & disappointed to see Bond killing off his such a wicked villain by only throwing a knife from behind!?! Both the character deserved a good fight between them. And last but not the least, I wish that French hottie could get e bigger role & more screen presence:).

Time passing typical slasher with few decent kills & a booby show.

Not bad as expected; found it quite decent actually, though there wasn't much of a story but liked it mainly for those poltergeist activity.

Sleepwalk with Me (2012)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps8725be53.jpg

Written, acted, directed and starring Mike Birbiglia, this is the movie adaptation of his stand up show. I remember the first time I heard Birbiglia on the radio; he's incredibly dry and neurotic and his telling of suffering through a severe sleepwalking illness is hilarious, sad, and ultimately endearing at the same time. Since I had already heard his clips, I felt as though I had already seen the movie, but regardless I found this funny, honest, and endearing. I hope that I can catch Birbiglia the next time that he's in Boston.

I really love his stand up.

Definitely recommended.

Catfish (2010)

I actually got sucked into the TV show and honestly couldn't help myself... Turns out this is an incredibly intriguing documentary with real, honest, and endearing people. If I recall, when this first came out, it was pitched as some kind of "thriller" which I think did it an injustice as it's a documentary about a man having an online relationship with someone (though Facebook) and then unraveling the truths about her. A really compelling watch.
