Ah yes. Clint in those spaghetti westerns. All of them were good films.

Yea, other Clint westerns that I thought were even better than the Dollar trilogy include:

High Plains Drifter
Pale Rider
Unforgiven

No western collection would be complete without those. :)

Despare 03-13-2007 01:16 PM

Even though it's a bit modern you can't pass up on The Quick and the Dead.

Once Upon a Time in the West

EDIT - Forgot one: The Shooting (1967). Criminally underlooked, but its an incredible western. A little bit slow in the middle, but its more than worth it.

Despare 03-13-2007 01:20 PM

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (although it's not your typical gunfight type Western it's amazing).
"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. "

Don't forget The Wild Bunch.

alkytrio666 03-13-2007 01:24 PM

Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Yes...a perfect movie.

Bogart's best performance, as well.

Oh yeah, seems to get even better with age.

The Mothman 03-13-2007 01:35 PM

nice. I havnt seen many Peckinpah films. Saw Straw Dogs and that was awesome though.

Despare 03-13-2007 02:02 PM

Mr. Vampire
It was a lot of fun, a little anti-climatic but that's ok. I may have to pick this one up...

Black Sunday
It's a classic.

Fearless (2006)

What a great martial art film! This movie surpassed my expectations with a great story and insane fighting. Too bad this will be Jet Li's martial art film. This is right up there with Hero and Fist of Legend. Check it out!

The_Return 03-13-2007 03:23 PM

Boo (1932)

Kind of nifty little short film that came as a Special Feature on the Frankenstein Legacy Collection DVD. All it is are clips from Frankenstein, Nosferatu and a lost film called The Cat Creeps edited together into a semi coherant story. Its only 10 minutes long and the jokes are really corny, but it was fairly entertaining.

Crabapple, have you seen this? Seems right up your alley.

Disease 03-13-2007 05:22 PM

The wicker man (73) 7/10

The French Connection 6/10

The Mothman 03-13-2007 05:46 PM

Blood Diamond
a whole lot better than i expected.

The_Return 03-13-2007 06:14 PM

Citizen Kane

What a letdown. From a technical standpoint its incredible, but the rest of it really wasnt anything special. Decent movie, but not great by any means.

how was that one? I purchased Nightbeast recently. contrary to the reviews i read about it, i was pleasently suprised.

Despare 03-13-2007 06:37 PM

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Good stuff, the message is timeless.

Oh... and I can't believe they're remaking it...

crabapple 03-13-2007 06:53 PM

All Don Dohler's movies are fun, God bless him. He made simple, enjoyable exploitation films.

crabapple 03-13-2007 06:55 PM

Bruiser is also a really good one. Another great performance from Jason Flemyng. Has a very funny ending too.

Despare 03-13-2007 07:19 PM

I'm in those new internet cafe theaters. ;)

Yeah the original and it was alright. If you don't like cheese don't go near it and they made Pluto into a punk but other than that it was ok.

Dick Tracy (1945)

Caught this one on TCM...I have the other RKO Dick Tracy flicks and enjoy them, figured this would be worth a watch. It's cheesy in places and there are some really bad lines, but I enjoyed it. Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome is still better, but this was definatly worth the time.
