Well of course it's off. It's not great, but at least it paid homage to the original without stomping on it. It at least had a few gruesome kills and good music.

But it's off in the wrong way. I did a review about it earlier about how it tries to be both a remake and a prequel. That in the end, it's a movie that wasn't needed. But I'm going to watch it a few more times to see if my opinion changes. But usually I have a feel for these things.

I was terrified of it as a child!.I love revisiting films from my youth (the shuttered room, the beast must die, vault of horror, asylum ,theatre of blood etc ) as the stuff I found horrifying back then often has me in stitches today. Films such as 'Dont look now'+ 'The black narcissus' still terrify me ~its great when you find a film that has a timeless fear factor

You know what's weird-watching it now I couldn't remember a single thing about it (besides Hopkins and the dummy) so it was like watching a new movie. I guess as a kid I mustn't have watched the whole thing and was intrigued by the title which is bound to grab a kid's attention. But I am very glad to have seen it. I just got a copy of Horror Hospital in full uncut form which I do remember scared the hell out of me as a kid. I haven't watched it yet but when I do later tonight it will be interesting to see what I make of it now after all this time.

Like Under the Red Hood & the recent Superman Vs the Elite, this is another superb addition to the DC-WB animated film series. But damn! the film also made me quite frustrated as I haven't read Miller's original 4-part issue The Dark Knight Returns series yet! So did a bad thing...read about it briefly on wikipedia and get all the major spoilers for the next part which made me even more excited about Part 2...cause surely that's going to be a brutally epic film for the BATFANs!
