Yeah, I found it to be 2/3 AMAZING movie and 1/3 flop IMO.

I love the entire thing, especially showing us the Further, which other movies chicken out or just refuse to do because *blah blah use your imagination*. They showed you exactly what the netherworld looked like, and it was creepy! I loved the empty, melancholy feeling. The first 2/3rds of the movie is an atmospheric haunted house flick, and then you sit down in a little cart and ride a haunted house ride. That's what it feels like to me.

The Uninvited- 7/10

I hate that lots of people don't like this. Considering all the truly horrible remakes and adaptations that were coming out in this time frame, this one is great. Emily Browning is a really good young actress, and when you watch the film a second time a lot of interesting things come to light.

I saw this once and the twist was a surprise. I'll probably see it again as Emily Browning was an unknown to me until I saw her in Sucker Punch.

Baby Blood (1990)
French horror comedy offering a lot of entertainment value and absolutely gallons of blood. Definitely not for everyone but its unabashed quirkiness really does work surprisingly well. This does mean that some of the scenes are a bit campy but in a good darkly comical way. I probably shouldn't like this but I actually did so I'll rank it as a guilty pleasure.

Just watched Trick r treat. Very cool movie. The ending was awesome. I didn't like the group of females, just didn't seem to fit in. Over all good movie.

When I say "quality little indie horror flicks," it's of the same ilk of Dead End, yellowbrickroad, The Caller, etc.

3.75/5.

Had a decent idea but horribly dull execution. Didn't like it.

Just as with any anthology, there were some films that were stronger than others (Amateur Night, The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger - which made me jump and scream out loud, by the way; great jump effects, and 10/31/98, which was successfully scary but also just fun to watch the effects and see a filmmaker play with a sub-genre within a sub-genre. The main story arc was also very well-done and deliciously creepy.

4.25/5

I really wanted to like The Sick Thing.... but didn't get the ending. What they were up to?
