Loved it for what it was. Interesting premise, over-the-top imaginative characters, some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, impressive CGI and Tommy Lee Jones.
Will Smith has always annoyed me for some odd reason (even in The Pursuit of Happyness, which I absolutely loved), so if you can look past him, it's a nice little entertainer.
Definitely much better than #2, which I have already forgotten.
Would rate it * * * ½ stars.

Well, I'm a HUGE fan of Will Smith, so I could deal with it. I've heard that Josh Brolin does a pretty good impersonation of Tommy Lee Jones - any truth to that? I'll watch it eventually. :D

Morlocks (Syfy channel movie).

This is probably the best Syfy channel movie. The main actor was in one of the Stargate TV shows. He plays a similar scientist type. The hologram doctor from Star Trek Voyager is in it. Christina Cole is also in the movie. She's a really pretty blonde girl who was in another so so horror movie about a guy who keeps dying. I can't remember the name of it right now. The theme music in Morlocks actually good. The only problem is they either ran out of money or wanted to mess it up. Because at the end, there is an action sequence which looks like the early polygon days of videogames. It's a bad joke and shocking that no one said let's just cut this and have the characters running from the building. Oh, the ending is good too. Kind of a Terminator feel to it.

Oh yes he does. He echoes the expressions and the slang of Tommy Lee Jones almost perfectly. But their faces don't match, even with some cleverly applied prosthetic make-up to Brolin (differences are too evident).
That being said, Brolin makes the film watchable by his performance alone.
Watch it, you are going to like it.

Sucker Punch - 8/10

Easy for a lot of people to dislike (or even detest) this movie, but i've loved it since I saw it in imax. I'll admit the *incredible* action scenes leave a good bit to be desired, but it's still a good flick. I really like the surreal ending, and Emily Browning is a great actress. I'd like to see her in more horror flicks. She was great in The Uninvited (one of the rare decent remakes)

Agreed. Splinter was a pleasant little surprise that definitely made me cringe at points with the FX and foley work.

Some Guy Who Kills People (2011)

Thanks to everyone on here who recommended this film. It was definitely a pleasant surprise (a slow, deliberate off-putting character piece). Kevin Corrigan was fantastic as our off-kilter main character, Karen Black was cringingly loathing, and Lucy Davis was the undeniably charming Stephanie.

It definitely has its uncomfortable moments as our main character, Ken, is really just trying to navigate through the world while also getting over a really traumatic high school experience and simultaneously connecting with his estranged daughter. Through all of that there's humor, fantastic death scenes and a solid character piece.

My only complaints are that the kid was faaaar too precocious to be believable (a common complaint when you have this type of kid roll in misanthropic character pieces) and I thought the title was pretty lame.

Otherwise, highly recommended.

3.75/5.
