True that.

Wonder if that was scorseses intention?

Rocky 3...

slasherman 02-26-2007 02:24 AM

Jaws 3 (not 3D version which I have never seen) and Piranha 2 - The Spawning...both movies was better than I could remember...that said they are still pretty lame movies...

yes, i bet you it definetly was. Its hard for me not to like either of my favorite two actors (Nicholson and Deniro)
however, when scorsese wants you to hate the bad guy, he'll do it. (Cape Fear) Loved Deniro in that movie...but i hated him too. he was perfectly awful.

Maniac (1938)

DP McCoy 02-26-2007 08:05 AM

The Exorcisism of Emily Rose-
A well made movie with good performances from the cast, thoughtful and subtle handling of the subject matter, all in all much better than i was expecting.8/10

I have to admit that i liked DiCaprios perfomance the most.

The Mothman 02-26-2007 09:00 AM

the man has grown up to be an excellent actor.

but no one is cooler than nicholson.

Despare 02-26-2007 10:43 AM

Newsies .

The Host

I bought it at the Monster Con this year and I love it. It is a good Asian cheesy horror film that has a lot of humor. The CGI is not all that horrible... It is pretty simple but still works well.

I am trying to get my Night of the Demons 3 dvd to work. >< I think I have to use my computer which stinks cause I rather watch it on my tv. It was rare one to find but you have to becarefull because it is not for all DVD players.

I love his work....

Angels With Dirty Faces (1938)

Magnificent.

Save the Green Planet - 7.5/10

Crazy as hell. An all-over-the-place mess of conspiracy theories, sci-fi, cops and drug abuse from that hotbed of weird/challenging cinema - Korea. A good time.

The Guardian.

Fairly standard big-budget Hollywood cheese-fest. I felt like I'd seen this movie many times before and the only thing new was that it focused on the Coast Guard. Passable for mindless entertainment, but one viewing was plenty.

An american haunting.

Nice atmospherics but ultimately unfulfilling.

It was my "last seen movie"

So I can post about any movie I watch UNLESS it comes from Asia? I refuse to post about anything but Japanese films in the JAPANESE HORROR forum...and Save the Green Planet is Korean.

Oh it's like that, huh?

You've just made yourself a deadly enemy, pal!!

Watch your back and sleep with one eye open. And i suggest you do both simultaneously.

I'm trying, and it's giving me a killer headache...

ooooh I see - that's your insidious plan:D

The Man Who Laughs

Pretty good...not on par with some (most?) of the other classic silents, but its good.

Ash's_evil_hand 02-27-2007 12:40 PM

The Haunting (1963). It was absolutely brilliant.

Modern cinema could learn so much from this film - great atmosphere, sound, sets - it's creepy as hell. A masterpiece.

Couldn't agree more, superb lesson in tension and atmosphere.

The Call of Cthulhu

Not bad at all. Im a big fan of silent movies and almost as big a fan of Lovecraft...this truely captured the feel of the latter, but they faltered a bit trying to make it look like an authentic silent film. Well worth seeing though, if not just for the awesome stop-motion effects near the end.

VampiricClown 02-27-2007 02:48 PM

Day Of The Dead

I personally found myself enjoying this one much more than Dawn. The zombie Bub was a little too innocent though. I found myself rooting for the zombies towards the end. All in all, a very enjoyable watch.

10/10

Marroe 02-27-2007 02:51 PM

Went to 2 movies this weekend. 1st was Ghost Rider...thought it was cheesy but fun to watch once it got started. 2nd was The Number 23, which I thought was good, but it kinda scared me. Not the whole 23 thing, but realizing how easily ones mind can be taken over. I'm sure there's SOMETHING out that could do it to me.
Anyways, I'd recomend both...but not for the same mood of course;)

Geddy 02-27-2007 03:29 PM

Dogma......

missmacabre 02-27-2007 04:40 PM

Last movie I saw was Superman Returns. Last remotely scary movie I saw was Pan's Labyrinth. I really liked it and a few parts made me jump.

The_Return 02-27-2007 07:07 PM

The Prestige

Barring a glaringly cheap plot device, I thought this was fantastic. Great script, solid acting all around and the overall "look" of the film was great.

Personally I think its better than The Departed...shame it got nominated in all the wrong categories.
