Headhunters (2011)

A good, intense Norwegian thriller.

>>: B

Last Caress (2010)

A low budget French effort in homage to Giallo films...particularly Argento & Bava inspired. Pretty silly at times but a fun watch overall.

>>: C+

Night Vision (2011)

Good booby shows but quite an average thriller.

Just watched The Innkeepers and IMO, it is an eerie, haunting, funny, and a return to classic nail-biting horror. By allowing time for character development, the creation of atmosphere, and building of suspense, and by steering clear of gore and saving its big reveal until the end, the director Ti West has delivered a genuinely involving and disconcerting chiller. He has a distinctive, careful camera style. I liked the way the camera shot was held for an exquisitely long time, so that when the scares arrive they pack a jolt.

I may have just found a new favorite director.

The Ruins (2008).
Pretty gruesome horror here, good amount of tension.
Acting was...ech...
But yeah, it was at least interesting, with a fair few cringe inducing moments.

In that case watch The House Of The Devil. More gore and Santinism but his trademark atmosphere and camera work are all there.
