Eagle Vs Shark: Quirky, romcom starring one of the dudes out of Flight of the Conchord. Plenty of laughs, good characters and solid acting from the main cast. While Jemaine Clement (FotC dude) provides most of the comedy, its Loren Horsley who really drives the movie, her peformance is quality and the relationships she has with the central characters are what really makes this movie work.

Hugo (3D)

Really a pretty good movie and very moving despite the fact that a family film by Martin Scorsese seems odd.

But at least we may have some people who are interested in Georges Melies.

I agree with V - This was really well-done and definitely a good addition to the found footage cannon. Geeks who love space, the moon landing, and always wanted to be an astronaut will especially adore this film. ;) I liked how they created a realistic claustrophobic atmosphere. I also like the production value and how "old" the film felt. Great shots of them on the moon as well.

My issues are both personal and also nit-picky. From a personal side, I wish I hadn't read too many reviews (my fault here) because I pretty much made up my mind before seeing the movie that I'd enjoy it, so I feel like my experience was a bit flat (I kept just waiting for the monsters). From the nit-picky side, I don't think you can really run on the moon... Plus I'm not sure that we'd have that level of sound effects. Also, I thought the alien to ultimately be silly and a bit disappointing (though Rue Morgue's review did prepare me for this).

All-in-all, it was a fun watch and I really really appreciate its style, but the scares were a lacking.

3/5.

I think that was my biggest issue with it - no scares.

And I REEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY thought that the alien was silly...

[SPOILER]

I kept on wanting to sing out ROCK MONSTER (to the tune of the B 52's "Rock Lobster") every time a rock rattled

LOL

Though I do appreciate the line in the end implying that we've handed out these little monsters to foreign dignitaries - that was pretty amusing...

"The Ride To Hangman's Tree" (1967)
-Jack Lord

Plot: IMDB
Three young outlaws try to stay together and keep one step ahead of the law.

Phantom's Review: Likable, light hearted western adventure. A good (and very recognizable) cast intentionally pull out all of the western cliche's. and have fun doing it. Very enjoyable.

I feel like they were trying to make an original creative movie but to me it ended up feeling more like two separate generic films. All the different twists really fell flat for me and were really obvious. Also, despite the great cast, the acting really wasnt that good.
