Yes, I certainly took a tour of the Yuengling brewery. In the beer tastings, I really liked the Yuengling Porter. It has a rich taste, not bitter, and a right touch of beer sweetness.

I live in Illinois, and we don't get Yuengling out here.

Say, that has my interest. Never seen Old Rasputin before. I like some stouts. Is it super bitter like a Guiness without much counter sweetness?, or is it more like a bock with rich complex flavor and good sweetness balance?

I'm hearing rumors that Sam Adams Octoberfest is available ........wish me luck

knife_fight 08-10-2013 08:11 AM

It is! Bought a 12 pack last night. My favorite Sam Adams seasonal, besides Old Fezziwig Ale that is only available 2-at-a-time in multi-packs at Christmas.

Also picked up a few pumpkin brews. Trying to drink Summer away and Fall here.

The Villain 08-10-2013 08:40 PM

Knife Fight gave me a craving for a pumpkin beer so i went out and picked up this

It's very complex, more on the bitter side with a hint of sweetness on the finish. Incredible brew, though. And more on the cheap side, strangely enough. I'm not sure what the regional distribution is like, but if you can find it, definitely grab some.

I had read some bad things about their peanut butter chocolate ale but some amazing reviews on the maple bacon so I had to give it a shot and... it wasn't bad. A great desert beer with a lot of sweetness and a bit of a salty finish that drinks well after a meal. It's almost like a light stout, I dug it.

ChronoGrl 03-05-2014 06:24 PM

NICE! I have a bottle of that lying around waiting for a special occasion.

I've been in a cider mood lately - Crispin and Woodchuck are standards and easy to get my hands on.

If you guys have any recommendations, let me know.

Strongbow is ok, but really I like to look for a good import cider as Strongbow, Woodchuck, and Angry Orchard are all too sweet. Although a Black and Tan (I think they call it Black Silk or something, I don't remember) with 1/2 Angry Orchard and 1/2 Guinness Stout... delicious.

Being a seasoned professional, I know enough NOT to double fist a 6.5% ABV ::wink::

Have you had Dogfishhead 90 Minute IPA? I wonder how those two compare...

Last night I had one of my favorites (aside from the Guinness and the Black Orchard).

our local brewery like to pair local flavors with their beer. This is the latest...Dels lemonade has been around these parts for quite some time. A pretty good shandy...if you're into them.

What kind of cider do you drink and what's your favorite? I've been drinking mostly cider lately...

This week I picked up

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps0c7b2326.jpg

and I was disappointed. Nothing special. I think that my favorite is probably Woodchuck or Angry Orchard.
